cool. i've been wanting a rolleiflex, you know, the TLR, but they're all so expensive D:

ahhh, yes they are. why a TLR (presume it's your first camera)?
a friend is showing me the ropes in the darkroom this week, hurrah.

nah, but i wouldn't say i've had a lot of experience with other cameras lol. i've used my dad's d70 and a vivitar uws (which really doesn't count for much) and i'm playing around with a friend's olmpus 35-RD now.

i didn't really think a lot about it. it's kind of like... when i have the budget i'll go and actually consider the pros and cons of a tlr vs. slr, you know? off the top of my head, tlrs are supposed to be lighter, and quieter, and you can see the subject while the exposure is being taken, which is cool, i suppose.

as for the darkroom, o: awesome.

hmm, you should checkout clubsnap.org, that's where i got my rollei. i always recommend an SLR (if possible, DSLR) to learn with, because of the full manual controls you get. the D70 is a good camera, use it!

a film SLR is great but you have to juggle all the other mechanical things, can be a steep learning curve if the camera isn't in great shape, meter isn't working properly, have to learn to develop film etc.

the TLR seems a little more like a novelty to me, generally shooting with medium format is a little like that... also polaroid, holga etc. but no hate, the final output can be very startling

yeah ive got aperture/shutter speed/focal length control on the olympus now... it's going good, surprisingly. even though i have to estimate the aperture settings myself because i dont have a light meter, and there's an automatic exposure mode but it needs a battery to work and i dont want to go find one of those obsolete mercury cells. but the sunny 16 rule seems to work most times...

mm yeah a lot of lomo things are novelties. there's that blackbird, fly camera? and i was looking at the clubsnap classifieds too but after a while i decided there wasnt much point if i couldnt pay straight up.

sounds like you're on the right path :)
a light meter is very helpful, not entirely necessary but useful. i'm using a handheld meter as well because i don't have the battery for the rollei's meter. have you shot many rolls already?

nope, just got it. my friend found the olympus when she was clearing her house, plus a proper film slr with detachable lens, so i just borrowed it off her :D

i've shot one colour roll and one black and white, on my second b/w now.

i've developed the colour but it was my first roll so a lot of things were underexposed/out of focus lol. i was only happy with two shots and they're not very special, so... eh.

mm i sent it to triple d today :) ten dollars, process and scan to cd.

fotohub is such a ripoff dont go there plz. except if you want to do E-6 processing then all the photo labs will tell you they have to send it to fotohub anyway.
