I guess it’s been a while and I should up date this journal. A lot and not much has happened since I last updated. The house is till on the market, no nibbles the real estate agent says it’s a soft market and nothing is moving in one breath then saying she just closed on 8 houses in the next, go figure. I think the contract will be expiring at the end of this month. I probably will renew it for another four months and hopefully we will be out of her by spring. I told Warfy that if it looks like we are going to be here through Christmas we might consider redoing the floors. It will be a good selling point and will reduce the allergens in the house that the carpets hold and make it easier to keep the house clean.
Last month we had a scare. We had just looked at a house and went to the local record shop for some coffee when I went to roll the passenger side window up in the bug and I heard a shattering sound. I thought for sure the window had shattered in the door so I called the dealership but they don’t do windows so I had to take it to a window place and it turned out the window was fine it was the cable that ran the motor that had snapped. So I took it to the Ford dealer because that’s where the warranty was from. They called back saying that the part was on recall so I had to drive to Lansing to take into the VW dealership. That was a royal pain because I was without a car for a week. I had to drive Warfy to work then RJ to school then pick Warfy up for lunch take him back then pick RJ up from school then get Warfy from work… I was so glad to get my bug back after all that driving.
Speaking of RJ and school… well what can I say… it started out good. They have him in a special gym class to improve coordination and that kind of thing which he needs but isn’t to thrilled about. He likes his computer class somewhat, it’s teaching more MS software stuff for business application so he isn’t thrilled with that but he does like creating things so that’s all good. He likes his biology teacher because she is a Jurassic park and Sci-fi nut. He is a bit worried about the dissections though, not so much cutting opened animals but the smell of the formaldehyde gets to him. History he is doing ok in except for social classes between him and several boys. He was doing well about his homework and then started lying about having any again. He is not using his time wisely and all that other stuff. Some of his main problems in school this year is not doing homework and the restraints the teachers have on doing work in class and turning it in right away and the fact there is several girls who he calls leeches keep latching on to him.
At the home coming pep rally he freaked out when four of the cheerleaders starting hugging him and giving him a bit more attention than he wanted. Maybe this is why the boys in his class want to pick on him because the girls like him. One of the cheerleaders keeps telling him, he is her boyfriend. He said just gives her looks like she is nuts. Then there is some guy in his computer class that keeps getting a bit to close and that isn’t making him happy either. It must be hard being RJ; he isn’t ready for any of this kind of attention and definitely doesn’t invite it. Though I think some of it is the girls think it’s funny to see RJ spas. On a positive note though he did find some friends this year, actually have four of them, Alex (who is a girl), Mark, Chris and Justin they are all anime, Monty python and computer freaks and he joined the chest club. So there might be hope for him yet.
My sister down in Louisiana must live under a special star; she was missed by Hurricane Katrina. She said they didn’t even get a breeze from her and Hurricane Rita just left them with a lot of rain. She said it had been so dry down there that the Red River was so low that the run off wasn’t a problem, but the ground was so dry that the rain just bounced off it and rain down the streets in sheets. I feel bad about those hit by Katrina down there, no sooner did they get out of one hell then another hurricane comes after them. I think those people will be traumatized for a long time to come.
My dad is in the hospital again, the doctors didn’t know what was wrong with him when he went to the doctors on Friday. He had been passing out and not doing as well as he should have been after his heart surgery. They ran some tests and it turns out he has some internal bleeding somewhere in his digestive tract and with the blood thinners and aspirin and all it wasn’t allowing what ever was bleeding to clot. They ended up having to give him 3 units of blood to make up for all he had lost. Monday they are going to run more test and find out where he is bleeding so they can fix it. My mom told the doctor to keep him in as long as they could because she has been a nervous wreck and now she feels he is someplace safe. Every morning she gets up wondering if my dad would wake up today. She is keeping me posted on his condition. She doesn’t see the sense in me driving all the way to Detroit yet.
Last Tuesday Warfy, RJ and I all went to the demo derby. It was a hoot. We went two weeks before the demolition combine derby at the Williams County fair. It was fun but not nearly as exciting as the car version of the demo derby. RJ’s only complaint was of the smell of smoking radiator fluid and burning rubber from the tires rubbing against metal. We got box seats this year so we were a lot closer to the track and there weren’t a lot of people in front of us to abstruse the view. I learned from the last fair to bring sodas with us to the stands because they just want too much for sodas there, though Williams’s county fair was twice the price of Hillsdale County and Hillsdale had twice the food venders than Williams County. No wonder it’s the most popular fair in the country.
Tomorrow RJ and I are invited to RJ’s half brother’s house for dinner. It should be interesting. They moved out here about two years ago and just had a house built on some acreage. They are raising horses which should interest RJ somewhat, he likes animals, probably be more interested in the cats though than the horses. I was surprised that Duane invited us over. After his grandfather died we didn’t part on to good of terms and the fact I divorced his father I thought wouldn’t of helped the situation but I guess after his last visit with his dad he realized that I was right in leaving and that it was me that was trying to keep the family together, that his dad didn’t care. It probably also helped that I thought of him and his son when I was getting rid of my Crown Victoria, gave it to them for nothing because it needed work and I couldn’t afford to fix it and needed to get rid of it before selling the house. Duane is a wiz with cars and it will be a nice joint venture for him and his son Calvin to work on. Calvin won’t be able to drive it much with the price of gas but it’s something.
I guess that’s all from the home front for now. I will try and keep this updated a bit better since I think the last posting was like three months ago.
