i just realized, i haven't updated in well over a month. i'm a shitty lj person.
i've actually been somewhat busy for the last week, working/helping manda's uncle build his new house. he's paying me, so it's alright. tolerable i guess, for now. fake log siding is really heavy.
i've had a few interviews, the biggest one chose someone else, but said maybe they'd hire me at the end of the summer. we'll see. another is still up in the air as of now, he was supposed to email me today to let me know, but he didn't of course, because he's pretty unorganized. i'd have to get my PE for that one though (professional engineer). that's like 4 years worth of hard work and studying and test taking. but it would be a shitload more money. so maybe.
i got a friggin flat today. apparently i caught a screw while driving past some construction. so i went to change my tire, and i couldn't get the lug nuts off. the entire damn car was shifting back and forth, and they wouldn't budge. finally i got 2 loosened, and then i tried the third one. it broke the goddamn tire iron that came with the car, it was so tight on there. i tried using a spare socket/ratchet set i had, but no luck. so i filled the tire and drove to sams, cuz i bought the tires there 3 years ago, and have a tire guard with them. ok fuckers, fix it. came back 45 minutes later to find out THEY couldn't get the lug nuts off, with a damn airgun. apparently the last asshole to put them on, at the sam's in ny, crossthreaded two bolts. so i can't get my flat tire off my car, nor can they repair it because it's still on the car. i would have even been happy just to put the spare on for now. that wouldn't work either, because apparently my tires are all 225/75/r15 except for my spare, which is 225/70/r15. wtf? whatever. i told them to fix it somehow. they gave me a voucher for someone else to do the work at an alignment place. go figure. they'll try a breaker bar and if that doesn't work, just cut the bolts and replace them. bastards. now i have to try to find a slot to squeeze into tomorrow morning, otherwise i can't drive my car til monday.
i've heard on and off from josh over the past few weeks. he's doing alright. could be better, but i suppose anyone living in a desert could be doing better.
finally hooked up a new phone. transferred my number to nextel. works great so far, almost no dead zones in town. we'll see how well it works back on long island, but it should be fine. i mean c'mon, it's long island.
went bowling last night, that was cool. had to do everything by hand though, because the lanes were being remodeled and all the overheads were down. oh well. i still kicked manda's ass.
big falls was last weekend. it's a big river/waterfall area here. pretty nice. the falls are fun to play on, and the sand is almost like beach sand. so it's tolerable. only thing is, to get to the beach, you have to walk though mosquito infested standing water and wade across the river. oh well.
i think i'll go now, cuz i'm boring myself. and i'm really tired.
