In the continuing debate about whether or not global warming is affecting tropical cyclone intensity and/or production, a new study, focused on the North Atlantic, conducted by British researchers and published Thursday in the journal Nature, concludes that for every one degree (F) rise:

Overall tropical cyclone activity, a combination of strength and frequency, goes up 49 percent

The number of major hurricanes increases by 45 percent

The number of hurricanes of any size increases 36 percent

The number of tropical storms goes up by 31 percent

Nature News - Stormy Weather:
Experts still divided on the link between climate change and hurricanes.
