I took a trip this weekend to Universal Studios, and when I got about 20 minutes north of my house I noticed that there were a lot of highway light poles bent in half. Then I remembered I was in the Punta Gorda area. Curious as to how the recovery processes were coming along, I took the next exit and drove through some of the neighborhoods. So quickly I forgot about how much worse it was just north of my house. As soon as my power was back, we'd mended the roof, and the debris was picked up, I moved on. However, things are far from being back to normal in Punta Gorda - even though it's over four weeks later. Still without power and a blue tarp on almost every roof, it was amazing to see how high their spirits were. There's just no excuse for being unthankful for what you have.
