It doesn't bother me that Sarah Palin is insane. What bothers me is that the mainstream media reports on her and her ilk (Rush, BillO, Hannity, etc.) as if they are just "the other point of view," rather than pointing out that what they are saying ISN'T TRUE and they are deliberately misleading people. The entire GOP has become Ann Coulter, which is why you don't hear as much from her lately.

That article from AP that CW quotes is the first time I've seen anything more mainstream than Comedy Central or MSNBC actually report the facts. Of course at this point, it's too late.

I have a naive hope that the "debate"/circus has seemed lopsided so far simply because the side that knows it's lying to people is spending billions (1.5 million an hour by some estimates) in corporate lobbyist cash lying to people and is therefore the loudest. It's a trick that the GOP learned during the Iraq War run-up works quite well. The lie is run on page one, above the fold, in the national consciousness. The correction when the lie is finally beaten down always appears on page 13B and never has the same impact. You would think that once the facts got out there, people would be held accountable for their lies. But why start now?
