Welcome to tw_unpaired, a festival for gen Torchwood fic!

The point of tw_unpaired is to generate some Torchwood fic where the focus isn't on romance or particular pairings, but rather the cases, friendships, and working relationships between the characters ( Read more... )

Cool.

eta question: Can Rhys and Gwen prompts be submitted/stories be written? Not shmoopy or were is this headed romance. But just sharing a set-of-circumstances b/c they are a couple fic?

Hm. That's a good question. I think it would depend on the circumstances. I'd be more likely to okay a fic where Gwen and Rhys are in the grocery store and run into aliens than I would be to okay a fic where Gwen and Rhys are on a date and run into aliens, for instance.

With so much canon romance, it's a bit hard to pin down, but I'd err on the side of friendship/teamwork/cases :)

Ssssh! I'm planning to die tragically just days before the fest goes live in order to guilt people into actually participating!

Do you promise that it will be a cruel hoax and/or you will come back from the dead as EVILKAIT or a zombie or something cause D*C wouldn't be nearly as much fun without you!

Is UST allowed?

pocky_slash can chime in later to add her thoughts, but I'm going to say that if it's background in the fic, fine, but it can't be the sole theme of the fic, and it shouldn't be constantly reiterated during the fic. I mean, it's hard to avoid in certain times in canon, but the story can't be about the UST.

Oh, yeah, 100%. It's more about the focus of the fic. Team adventures, new artifacts, etc. are all great. Gwen can go home every night to Rhys, but the fic isn't about Gwen/Rhys. It's about the crazy alien hippo wandering through Cardiff. Or something.

Not sure yet if I have time to sign up, but it sounds cool and I do have a question:

Would it be okay to write prompts/fic that deal with friendship or working relationships between characters who might also be romantically or sexually involved/into each other? For example, in your example of what not to do, you use the idea of Jack and Ianto having an awkward post-Cyberwoman mission. But if I were to write a fic like that, I'd be more likely to write it as an awkward boss/employee situation and probably wouldn't touch on any romantic or sexual aspects.

Yup! I would say that is 100% okay. I would just try to make the prompts as gen-specific as possible. ie: "After Cyberwoman, no management training manual could prepare Jack with how awkward a field mission could be with an employee you just threatened to shoot in the head."

Please tell me you are going to prompt this.

Haha, it's totes out of character for my own head canon because obvs Jack would never actually pick up a management training manual (mostly because he can't read) but FOR YOU I will do it XD
