Virtual Series Three: DVD extras
Torchwood Virtual Series Three is over!
This is the last post for the third series, our final collection of extras, images, fragments of stories and a link post for any further materiel generated -- by participants or by fandom in general.
The total word count for the series, not including ephemera, was 279,642. Episode 10 (Family Business) was the longest episode at 34,124 words. We created dozens of photomanips for the series and a diary entry and Captain's blog for each episode (plus the 'pre-series' work). With this post coming in the end of May 2010, and the first inkling of the Virtual Series idea in July of 2009, the project lasted 10 months.
There is ongoing discussion of a possible fourth series, it's in the very early stages so imagine it's the same sort of rumor that we've heard from Barrowman. *shakes fist* The make-up of writers and staff will probably be different, some people have already confirmed they will not return and others have promised that -- if there's a new series -- they'd love to participate. I do hope to also get new participants, new voices and new ideas. If a fourth series happens, it will not go live until sometime in 2011. Not only does it take a long time to develop the project, we all need a break.
There are a few pieces of meta, a brief epilogue, and already some fan created stories and art. If you write, draw, meta or post about the Virtual Series (anything from fic to reviews) please feel free to post a link in the comments. This way we'll have a central location for all VS related work. I hope to put up a meta post myself, in the next week, I just didn't get a chance to finish it before this DVD post needed to go up.
I did want to mention that, while we often didn't reply to individual comments, we did read them all and wanted to thank every one who read, posted, replied and enjoyed -- it was a great boost on those long nights to be able to see people's pleasure in the work.
