ONGOING ARCHIVE NOTES
Torchwood 3
Volume 75, Week 7
ALIEN ACTIVITY: Successfully repelled a Wirrin invasion fleet. I need to say that again. Successfully repelled a Wirrin invasion fleet. Damn, that feels good.
ALIEN TECHNOLOGY: Notify Torchwood Two that the item we borrowed will not be returned. See how Archie likes it when the shoe's on the other foot. Feet.
RIFT ACTIVITY: A bit higher than usual, but we were kinda distracted. Cleaning that up and sorting through the battlefield debris should keep us busy for a few months. Just because the blinders are off doesn't mean humanity is ready to see everything. And we still have timelines to protect.
SECURITY: It'll be weeks before we're sure how many people the Wirrin killed. They wiped out the International Space Station and three of her crew. Cape Canaveral is rubble. Cardiff will have to rebuild its police force and quite a bit of infrastructure (you'd think by now they'd be used to it). On the bright side, space exploration is a priority again, as is orbital defense. And it's not just so the superpowers can mark territory. For now.
OTHER SECURITY ISSUES: Torchwood should review our use of retcon. It's possible we could reserve it for the most traumatic cases, where memory of direct alien contact would keep someone from living a normal life. Megan will be in charge of developing our new protocol.
STAFF: We finally have a technician. Naz, a Nwaxan-chu soldier and former Wirrin prisoner, will be stuck on the planet indefinitely. Unlike Vy, we won't have to keep hir locked in the Hub. Somehow, my team emerged from an apocalypse with a bigger headcount. And crests. And forehead ridges. Is it my birthday?
OTHER STAFF ISSUES: Speaking of births, Gwen's going to need maternity leave soon. That means I need to start recruiting another police liaison. When she comes back, her job's going to be a whole lot bigger. If DI Swanson recovers from her injuries, I want to give her a serious look. Same with PC Davidson. I know I've given Gwen's old partner a lot of grief, but he really showed his mettle in this invasion. I think Ianto might be ready to take over as my second, provided he's not too busy planning our new disaster recovery site.
OTHER ISSUES: The bill for repairing the SUV is on the steep side. (It would be cheaper to replace it, Jack - IBJ)
Ianto, I know you read these, so… I have an apology to give. We have a spaceship that can still break atmo (if it doesn't break apart first). We're twenty minutes away from zero G. Now play that audio file you want me to hear, then let's go join the 22,000 Mile High Club.
