ONGOING ARCHIVE NOTES

Torchwood 3

Volume 74, Week 50

ALIEN ACTIVITY: Dead alien recovered near Blaengwynlais. Lots of tentacles. Not the sexy kind. Species TBD, too small to be a Slyther or a Bane. One attempted assault by a Hoix near Riverside. Terminated after four shots. "Subject 14" is properly known as the Tenda Zal (Ianto: update the archive if you haven't already). Nasty disposition undiminished despite being on a first name basis. Two humans killed, seven injured, before it could be contained.

ALIEN TECHNOLOGY: Gwen abducted by Celtaltu Collective transport vessel the Siiu Anto Mala. Returned unharmed. Although she didn't score us any new toys, her report on working with the shipboard AI ought to be educational. The battery in the Sillin DNA sequencer finally bit the dust. Back to the Dark Ages of manual input queries!

RIFT ACTIVITY: The Siiu Anto Mala's transmat generated a bunch of Rift spikes. Pretty sure we know the result of two of them, but that leaves at least two we haven't sorted.

SECURITY: The buzz on the street is that Cardiff has its own Jack the Ripper. We won't be correcting that. Attack witnesses have been warned of a gas leak that may have distorted their memories. We returned both bodies to the police after removing traces of alien contact. Can't have a serial killer without bodies! Administered a low dose of retcon to Doctor Isabel Sanchez. Enough to wipe out what she saw at the crime scenes. Also cleaned her evidence kit and camera. Debrief confirmed that officers involved in bird-dogging the Tenda Zal at Bute Park did not see the transport ship.

OTHER SECURITY ISSUES: Hoix cleanup completed. The body at least. Not much we could do about the smell. JJ kept his brekkie down this time, but he was a bit antsy. Nearly shot a stray cat. It may have been too soon to qualify him on firearms, but better too soon than too late. I'm considering qualifying Rhys. Gwen will have kittens, but it's for his own safety. The job seems to find him, even though none of us want him working here full time.

STAFF: JJ needs to stop thinking like a reporter. We were down a man half the night because he went off comms to work a lead. On the upside, he's showing a lot of promise charming information out of people. We need to find ways to keep him on task and develop that natural talent.

OTHER STAFF ISSUES: If Megan Muli's background check comes through clean enough, I'm going to yank her out of St. Jude's so fast her head will spin. If it fails, we'll reconsider Dr. Sanchez. Though I'd rather have someone with more interest in living patients.

OTHER ISSUES: Death by head injury seems to be trendier than Ed Hardy shirts, but what isn't? It was too much to hope that the Tenda Zal was behind the Weevil epidemic. But you don't have to be a coroner to tell the difference between the deaths. Gwen still investigating the human case that JJ and Ianto found last week, and we've found another related incident, this time at the RSPCA. An entire kennel of dogs.

Need to study the Celtaltu Collective's open-ended transmat technology. I'm concerned that the Rift might have affected signal quality. Even Gwen's mobile could've. Transmats are tetchy under the best circumstances. I'm not feeling the effects of Couvade like I was before, and if there's any chance this may have affected her baby…
