What if Gwen is the key?
Okay, here's the thing. As much as I loathe the notion of "Gwen is the most special snowflake in all the history of Torchwood", what if she actually is? What if Gwen was brought to that time and that place because (like her apparent ancestor) Gweneth, she has the ability to close the Rift forever?
So here's the idea. A story where it's bad. Really really bad. Apocalyptic bad. And Gwen realizes through whatever means neccessary that she needs to be the glue to seal the universe.
And so she does. And there is no more Rift in Time and Space and Jack suddenly realizes that he can have whatever life he wants to lead for the first time in decades. He and Ianto can settle down in Cardiff. Or travel the world. Or even, leave Earth. What will they do? Will he cope? What is his life going to be in a world without Torchwood?
