Nov 26, 2008 18:05

Pairing: Implied: Theta/Koschei, Jack/John, Tosh/Mary, Jack/Doctor, Jack/Ianto
Challenge: 28 End
Rating: PG
Warnings: Anthropomorphization of emotions/relationships, strange bunnies.
Spoilers: None.
Note: There are no real characters here, just their relationships. (I'm really not sure how to tag this, by the way, modly mod.) All you need to know is that they're all gathered in a cozy barroom in a nice hotel. Have fun with it. They're just five drabbles.

Where Ends Meet

i. (Theta/Koschei)
Some say she’s twelve, while some think she’s older or younger. She could be any of them or all. She is the object of everyone’s affection. How cute. How lovely. How sweet.

They turn their backs and her mouth curls into a crooked sneer, glaring at every one of them, thrusting daggers in and twisting. She cries to herself in the corner booth, curls in to protect herself. It hurts, and she can’t tell you why.

They promised her forever. Forever and ever and ever and ever! It’s so unfair.

They turn back to her and she smiles and waves.

ii. (Jack/John)
She spends her time at the bar, watching the people their night, their day, their whatever. It makes no difference to her. People are people, no matter what time it is. She reclines against the bar with her legs crossed. Nothing is ever free. Her hair is as dark as her laugh, but she always laughs. She always has a good time. She talks, she flirts, she invites them back up to their room. “Too bad,” she’ll say when the fun ends. “That could have been something.”

And the people all go on their way. She stays where she belongs.

iii. (Tosh/Mary)
There’s a boy that keeps as far from the group as he can. He can tell you things: how a watch works, why the sky is blue, what goes on in the minds of men. He’s been around for so long. He was born yesterday. Maybe he’s both. He’s so unsteady. So unsure. If he spoke, he would stutter. He doesn’t speak. There’s noone to speak to. He bites his lips and tries to go unnoticed.

All the while, he keeps his eyes on the door, waiting for the man to come back and separate him from himself once more.

iv. (Jack/Doctor)
She’s happy, truly happy. It’s not because she is here. She never wanted to be here, even if she knew she wasn’t meant to be anywhere else. She’s happy because, even though it has ended, there will always be her sister, her twin. There will always be love between them. She makes a point to talk to every person in the room, get to know them, make them laugh. She wants to remind everyone about their twins. Some listen, others laugh. The reception isn’t the point. It's getting them to listen. They’ll be happy with the memories of their love.

v. (Jack/Ianto)
She’s new here, and only a few steps inside the door. She sees her oldest sister at the bar, chatting with some other girl. She sees another of her sisters over at a table, talking warmly with a group of people. She throws her an enthusiastic wave that reassures her slightly.

The pain and the tears are still heavy in her chest. She never expected to live long, or to live alone, but there was something hurtful about coming here, to The End, but everything must. Everything.

She clutches her prized stopwatch in her hand and walks into the crowd.
