I like this idea....the only thing I don't like is someone giving to a charity in my name in lue of giving me a gift.
But on that, I say, give to the charity in your own name, and send me a holiday card telling me you're thinking of me at the holidays. That's better anyway. I don't want someone else giving to charity in my name because I endorse only specific causes, and I do at this time of year send my donations.

On the topic of buying gifts, my theme this year is useful or not at all.
I have over the years gotten so many gifts that are just laying around collecting dust, or ones that got a hearty WTF? when I opened the box....so I don't want gifts from my friends. We've all agreed that if we're going to do something for the holidays, we'll make dinner, or go see a show or something together. We'll spend time together.

And family...only things we need. If we must gift, then it is useful things. I am tired of the waste of money, of materials and of effort that people put into the most useless things every year, just to wrap something up in a bow and have someone come unwrap it.
Less is indeed more!

And What you're doing here is awesome!
KUDOS!
