Notes: Spoilers for DW and Torchwood S1. Jack doesn't belong to me (however much I wish for him), so I amuse myself by playing with him from time to time. Cross posted to my LJ.
Jack used to go up high to remember. To tune out the pressures of Torchwood and the noise of the bustling city below, searching his mind for any tiny scrap of recollection, to recover what was taken.
Nothing came.
Now his memory is overflowing and, when he looks to the sky, he recalls those he has faced and those he has lost. The Master, Suzie, Daleks, Abadon, Rose and the true Captain Jack. When he met the Doctor with the other face he was fighting to recover his memories. With a future stretching into eternity, what he lost seems insignificant.
