Thanks for the Ouch, that was what I was going for.

The parallels are definitely there. I have a theory that the reason Ianto acted so OOC (in my opinion) in that episode is because Beth's situation it reminded him of Lisa and it really upset him, so he tried to hide it behind a joking, happy exterior.
