Around the end of this summer the song "Deliverance" by Calvin Johnson made me want to make a mixtape or cd for someone I had a crush on. There was no such person at the time (and for the most part hasn't been since) but I figured that shouldn't stop me from putting a bunch of songs together, right?
Wrong! I couldn't really do it, because there wasn't a sufficent motivating force without an actual person that I wanted to hear these songs, or a certain time i wanted to get it to them by. Also, you can't make a mixtape that you want to think of as being for a specific person, when there is in fact no other specfic person who it should be specficially tailored to (taking into consideration their taste in music, other interests, conversations you may have had with them etc). So I just have this short playlist on my computer, that I very occasionally remember when I am listening to a song i decide to add to it, which I just did now, which reminded me to make this post.
the songs on it are:
"Deliverance" by Calvin Johnson
"Forever Young" by Bob Dylan
"Like A Monkey In the Zoo" by Daniel Johnston
"Brown Brown Brown" by Paul Baribeau
"Song For Tura Santana" by the mountain goats.
thank you and goodnight.
