I finally work in the criminal justice field. Getting paid for it. I am beyond relieved to have found something I really want to do. I'm at the Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis - I get to work downtown for my first job!! How sweet is that?? I am a Senior Court Clerk in the criminal division. I am learning to create court calendars, enter information into the state case management system, and even call the calendar for the property/drug court first appearances. That means I get to work in the courtroom, announcing each case as it is presented to the judge. Seriously, I am so lucky to have found this position. It is something I've wanted to try as a career since I started out in criminal justice. It's been a week so far, and I can't wait to learn more and become more comfortable with the system. Everyone in the office is really efficient with the program and entering everything super fast - I want to get that good. And it's great to have Brenna in the office to be my go-to friend. But everyone is really nice there, so it's easy to fit in.
Now that I'll be working 40 hours a week, and making really good money, I'll be able to buy the things I need and pay for the things I'm now responsible for. I only wish it was a permanent position and not for only six months. But we'll see where I end up when those six months come to a close...maybe something will open up for me.
I feel content for once this summer. Like I didn't completely waste my time at Northern. Things are finally looking better for me :) I'm so grateful for my family and friends for being supportive and helpful during my job search. I couldn't have survived without them by my side.
