Marnie Michaels has quite a history that has never been discussed in girls. She’s let the audience see through her façade periodically, but no one has a clue how deeply scarred she is. Her parents were ridiculously hard on her growing up, as in if she didn’t make straight A’s she was condemned to spend her days alone with her books until she could get her grades up. When she reached college and went a more artistic route, her parents were livid. They couldn’t believe that their daughter would major in something so asinine. So they moved to trying to force her to marry up, if she couldn’t take care of herself then they needed to make sure she found someone else who could. So that’s why Marnie works so hard and tries to stay on top of everything, its as much about proving to her parents that she can do it as it is proving to herself. If she can only control everything around her then she can control what her parents think of her.
