Drabble (238 words):
Quinn hadn’t been sure that she could go through it all again. Having Beth was painful and talk of babies always brought back memories that stung just a bit. But Sam changed all of that.
It took until Sam was finished with college for the two of them to find each other again, but when they did, there was no slowing down: dating, marriage, and a family all within a year. But now that Quinn was in the maternity ward with Sam at her side and nurses urging her to push, Quinn couldn’t handle her emotions.
Tears slid out of her eyes as she pushed and pushed, her whole body exerting more strength than she had. Cries told her that she was finished, and the look of pure joy in Sam’s eyes was worth it. This was their baby and their family and… it was perfect.
Sam looked down at the wriggling baby on Quinn’s chest, and he grinned, his eyes misty and full of bliss. “You did it,” he smiled, leaning down to kiss his wife gently. “She’s beautiful.”
“She looks like you,” Quinn commented softly.
Sam could hear the exhaustion in her voice, and he kissed her again out of pride and thanks for the new little bundle of joy between them. Grinning, he brushed a few blonde wisps of hair out of their baby girl’s face as he whispered to Quinn, “She looks like us.”
