Ship of Brides - Jojo Moyes
Story of four Australian war brides spending 6 weeks on an aircraft carrier en route to England. Four very different women, four different lives and futures ahead of them. Liked it.

Colony of Unrequited Dreams - Wayne Johnston
A fictionalized biography of Newfoundland's first premier, Joe Smallwood, covering his life from school days through some harrowing experiences to when he fought for Newfoundland to become part of Canada in 1949. There is also the story of his relationship with a woman, Shelagh Fielding (who didn't exist in real life), who was perhaps his nemesis, friend, and possibly his conscience at times.

Buckingham Palace Blues - James Craig
Another in the series about Inspector John Carlise. Liked this one, even if the topic of the case being child trafficking was a bit grim, as well as corruption behind the scenes at the palace.

Not My Father's Son - Alan Cumming
Scottish Actor, Alan Cumming, was the subject of a geneology show in the UK, Who Do You Think You Are? and in the run up to filming the show, he was told that he was not in fact the biological son of his father and this turned his world upside down. He writes of his childhood, son of an alcoholic who was violent to he and his brother and how he dealt with the discovery and came out the other side of it all.

The Girl in the Spider's Web - David Lagercrantz
This author has taken up the mantra of continuing the Millenium series about the Swedish journalist Mikel Blomqvist and hacker Lizbeth Salander and he's done an admirable job. Of course his writing style is different from Stieg Larsson's but he pulls the story along well and it's a satisfying one.

Library of Souls - Ransom Riggs
The third of the trilogy of "Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children". Emma and Jacob have to rescue the rest of the children and the ymbryns from a time loop where the wights and hollows keep as their stronghold. Another really good adventure with a satisfying end.
