One day down, one to go. The MS Excel online course was pretty good. i did two courses, the beginner and intermediate though it's odd, it didn't really go into formulas much, just doing quick sums of columns. You'd think it would give you a bit of practice with slightly more involved formulas though not necessarily complex ones, or at least how to format them. I don't think i'l try the advance course as it's probably over my head as far as things i need to know. I might some other time though. Tomorrow i am going to delve into Adobe Photoshop. I have a trial version downloaded to use with it.

My balcony door hasn't been installed yet. I'm guessing tomorrow. I need to be up and dressed before the workers come crashing through my window to put up the new one ;) so to speak that is.

76. A Storm of Swords - George R. R. Martin
Book three of a Song of Ice and Fire series (Game of Thrones). Lots of characters taking journeys in this one. There is a surprising death or two in this one and several of the Stark children who are assumed to be dead are not (not a spoiler since the reader knows it going in to the book) but all are scattered to the four winds, each thinking the other is or may be dead. We see Arya's journey, Jon Snow's journey beyond the Wall, Sam Tarly's journey, Bran's journey, Jaime Lannister's journey and of course, Daenarys' journey. All are interesting, though, all have challenges.

77. A Christmas Wedding - James Patterson
Kind of a "girly" book, it's about a widow who has decided to remarry on Christmas day but won't tell her 4 children who she's marrying. They must all come home for Christmas and will find out at the wedding. She wants her family all together at one time. There are three possible grooms, all very good friends of Gaby, the bride to be and even they don't know who she's going to choose since all three have proposed. We see into the lives of each of the children. One daughter has a failing marraige, one daughter has a husband facing a serious illness, one daughter is a career woman and one son is a struggling young writer. It was a light, easy read with a happy ending as you would expect.

78. The Dress - Sophie Nicholls
This was a free book via Librarything in exchange for a review.
The Dress is about a mother and daughter, Fabbia and Ella Moreno. Fabbia has raised her daughter alone after her husband died. She's a dressmaker and when the book begins, she is opening a vintage dress shop in the historic old city of York. You feel that this is another in a series of "fresh starts" that Fabbia has taken through both hers and Ella's life. It seems when things get too tough, Fabbia runs.

Each chapter is titled with a piece of clothing or shoes or piece of jewelry. Each chapter tells a little slice of Fabbia's history or current events in the story where the item is featured. It might be pivotal to the story or it might be incidental. We see glimpses of where Fabbia came from and patch together how she got to this point in her life. We discover that she and her daughter have some sort of sixth sense for interpreting people's feel;ings or emotions but it's not really crucial to the story overall. We find out eventually how and why Fabbia always wants to run and why she's so protective of her daughter who ends up getting hurt anyway.

It's not a long book and it doesn't go into great depth but it's well written and I loved the descriptions of the clothes! The characters are still well developed for the style of book it is and both main characters are quite likeable. The other characters are well described as well, even if only briefly in the story. I got a good sense of each of them.
