I did see the movie. It is not one I would pay to see again or get the DVD.
1. I didn't mind the Krypton sequence but also did not understand why they had to send the son alone. It is such an unknown. I also agree that a society capable of interstellar space travel would use whatever ships they could to escape the planet.
I also did not really understand abandoning the outposts. Not only abandon them but leave people to die there.
I didn't like the way the movie looks gritty. I guess it is so it feels darker like Batman. It doesn't work here and I thought actually made Amy Adams unattractive.
Oddly some scenes Superman looks like Christopher Reeves while in other scenes he looks like a completely different person.
I also thought the fight scenes were too much. It was as if there was a bet between directors at how much destruction they can put in their movie. You are right that Superman would try and take the battle away from a populated area.
One thing that irked me was being tossed into space and what are the odds that they hit that satellite. I know it looks more spectacular but very improbable unless it was planned.
And the girl who gets trapped. Instead of making her brave and telling the others to leave her she plays all helpless. Then there is the falling building and then running away in line with the falling building.

All I can think of for now.
