Ooh, sorry, ambiguous form is ambiguous. A pinch hit is when if someone drops out of the challenge, a pinch-hitter will be asked if they can write the fic for the recipient that the person who dropped out was writing for, that way no one is left without a fic. But everyone is asked at the time, so saying yes now doesn't mean you can't still say no if it comes up, it's just to give me a heads up of anyone willing to write a second fic. Feel free to message me or ask in comments if you're still unclear on anything.
Also I have no idea where 'pinch-hit' as a term comes from, I would assume baseball maybe, I only know it from being around too many fic exchanges :).
