The Shipping News (In Brief)

Nov 29, 2007 21:05

So perhaps the reason I watch TV the most is because I'm a shipper.  Rarely, although sometimes a slasher.  Really, I'm a slipper (slash/shipper).  But it so much defines what I perceive and what I write.  So here's a summary of the ships I support.  The shows are in alphabetical order, not by passion for shipping.  **Stars** show the ships of which I am I die-hard fan.  Plus, the "BUT NEVER..." section shows you what ships I don't like.

30 Rock
Liz/Pete:  Because he cares about her and knows her better than she knows herself and her limits.  But he's (happily?) married, so I don't mess with that.
Liz/Floyd:  Because Floyd and Cleveland are the Fuzzy American Dream.
BUT NEVER...Liz/Jack.  It'd ruin everything.

Angel
**Fred/Gunn**:  Perhaps one thing I hated most about the season five retcon was that Fred and Gunn's entire relationship--its complicated yet sweet nature, its highs and its lows, its angst and its truth--was gone forever.  Forgotten.  He killed for her, for crying out loud.  Their differences just made their similarities even more adorable and honest-to-God real.
Wesley/Lilah:  HOT.  And I think she really loved him.
Wesley/Fred:  Second best, but I like geeklove! so I can't hate it.
Cordy/Doyle:  God, I was pissed when he died.  But what a fantastic episode.
Angel/Cordy:  At times.  I was really torn.
Angel/Faith:  Liquid sex, I swear.
Darla/Angel/Drusilla/Spike:  Hottest Love Square ever.
BUT NEVER...Cordy/Connor.  I still shudder till this day.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
**Buffy/Angel**  Hands down, favorite ship.  Soulmates.  When that Buffy cookie dough is done baking, Angel's going to be chowing down on those cookies like a bear on Goldilocks.
*Willow/Xander*:  BFFs forever.
Willow/Oz:  Because they were adorable.
Xander/Cordy:  Snarky love.
Willow/Tara:  Something beyond anything anyone else could ever experience.
Xander/Anya:  I really wanted them to get married but Joss Whedon wants my little heart to die.
Buffy/Xander:  It's strange until you think about it, and then it works.
BUT NEVER...Buffy/Riley, Buffy/Spike, Willow/Kennedy

Desperate Housewives
Lynette/Tom: Because they can always work it out.
Bree/Rex: For the moments you realize that you're human.
Bree/Orson:  For the moments you need a like mind.
Susan/Mike:  Because clumsy people need love too.
Gabi/Carlos/Edie: love triangle made of awesome.
BUT NEVER...Gabi/John.  Seriously, let the gardener go.  We don't care about him anymore.

Everwood
Ephram/Amy:  When she wasn't whiny.
Hannah/Bright:  a-DOR-able.
Ephram/Madison:  Because Amy sometimes is too busy with dead or drugged boyfriends.
Andy/Linda:  HIV, shmatHIV.
Andy/Nina:  Less annoying than Scott Wolf.
Edna/Irv:  Because old people can love too.  Before the nasty PTB kill one of them off.

Firefly
Kaylee/Simon:  Because he likes to take his shirt off and she's shiny.
Wash/Zoe:  Joss Whedon once more kills true love.
Mal/Inara:  Like, duh.

Friends
Ross/Rachel:  Because you have to love them.
Monica/Chandler:  They turned out to be better suited for each other than Ross and Rachel and far more quirky and hilarious.
BUT NEVER...Joey/Phoebe.  They don't all have to hook up.

Gilmore Girls
Lorelai/Christopher:  He needs her.  She always comes back to him.
Rory/Dean:  Before they ruined his character, he was so sweet.  Season One finale is my favorite episode.
Lorelai/Luke:  Because everyone else figured it out before they did.
Lane/Dave:  He read the Bible cover-to-cover to appease her mom.
BUT NEVER...Rory/Logan.  Spoiled, senseless, irresponsible.

Grey's Anatomy--haven't seen this season
**Cristina/Burke**:  The best couple on the show, the one I tuned in to watch.  I wanted them to go through with it and was devastated when they didn't.
Meredith/Derek:  Why not?
Addison/Alex:  Sex.  Sexy sex.
Izzie/Alex:  More sex.
Mark/Addison/Alex/Izzie:  Lots and lots of sex.
Richard/Adele:  Her doorway rejection of him last season was heart-wrenching.
BUT NEVER...George/Izzie.  In fact, it's the reason I don't watch the show anymore.

Heroes
Nathan/Nikki:  What happens in Vegas...
Nikki/D.L.:  I can't believe they killed him off.
BUT NEVER...Peter/Claire.  Why is the incest love so strong in this fandom?

How I Met Your Mother
Ted/Robin:  So complicated and ultimately so wrong for each other, but it was good while it lasted.
Lily/Marshall:  Best.  Wedding.  Ever.
Robin/Barney:  Because we all love a little crackfic.

Law and Order: Special Victims Unit
**Elliot/Olivia**:  Duh.
BUT NEVER...Olivia/Casey.  If you're going to slash, it's Olivia/Alex.  Come on.

Monk
Randy/Sharona:  God, that would have been great.
Monk/Natalie:  Let's face it.  Monk needs to get some.
BUT NEVER...Monk/Sharona.  Just no.

NCIS:  Navy Criminal Investigative Service
**McGee/Abby**:  Most canon and most adorable.
Tony/Ziva:  She wants him so bad.
Kate/Gibbs:  Not just snarkiness, but an undercurrent of really mature respect
McGee/Ziva:  Sincerest regards for each other.  Even Abby suspected something.
Tony/Kate:  Because they're the best white trash couple ever.
Tony/Abby:  She'll never be done hugging him.
Gibbs/Jenny:  They'll always have Paris.
Palmer/Lee: I secretly want to jump the autopsy gremlin.
BUT NEVER...Gibbs/Ducky, Gibbs/Abby

One Tree Hill
Haley/Nathan:  I don't care about anyone else.

Private Practice
Addison/Pete:  Because he's a slightly more stable than McSteamy or Alex.
Violet/Cooper:  They're just messed up enough to be with each other.
Sam/Naomi:  Because God doesn't mind if they get it on.

Psych
Shawn/Juliet:  ReallyCloseTalking
Juliet/Lassie:  Because he has a problem with sleeping with his partners.

Pushing Daisies
Ned/Chuck:  Cuteness with UST up the wahzoo.
Ned/Olive:  He can touch her.

Scrubs
Turk/Carla:  Through thick and thin, man.
J.D./Elliot:  On/Off-ness drags on a bit, but they're still oddly well-matched.
Cox/Jordan:  How I learn all of my insults and comebacks.
Cox/Carla:  Better as a friendship.
Elliot/Janitor:  When he takes her out for a date and calls her "Elliot" afterward...I crumbled inside.

Sex and the City
Carrie/Big:  Duh.
Carrie/Aidan:  Because he was the best guy, but not the best guy for her.
Miranda/Steve:  My favorite of all of them.
Charlotte/Harry:  Jewlove!
Charlotte/Trey:  WASPlove!
Samantha/Smith:  Cougar-ing at its best.
Samantha/Richard:  For the moment when sex became something more.
BUT NEVER...Carrie/Berger.  Breaking up on a Post-It?  Tacky.

Smallville
**Clark/Chloe**:  Chlois would be the greatest thing ever.  EVER.
Lex/Lana:  What a twisted web they weave.
Chloe/Jimmy:  Because he's cute in a bowtie kinda way.
Lois/Oliver:  Duty v. Love.
BUT NEVER...Clark/Lana.  Lana can go freeze in the Fortress of Solitude.

Stargate:  Atlantis
**Sheppard/Weir**:  Sparky love!
Teyla/Ronan:  Alien love!
Weir/McKay:  Geeklove!
BUT NEVER...Sheppard/Teyla.  IT BURNS MY EYES!

Stargate: SG-1
**Sam/Jack**:  THE OTP of the Stargate Universe.
Daniel/Janet:  Another good one killed off.
Daniel/Vala:  It's Claudia Black.
Sam/Daniel:  More geeklove!
Jolinar/Martouf:  God, that storyline was so good.
BUT NEVER...Cameron/Main Female Character.

Star Trek:  The Next Generation
**Picard/Crusher:**  So close but no cigar.
Riker/Troi:  Imzadis.
Data/Tasha:  Yet another one bites the dust.
LaForge/Brahms:  Hologram or not, sparks fly.
BUT NEVER...Worf/Troi.  What were TPTB smoking?

Star Trek:  Voyager
**Janeway/Chakotay**:  My first ship.
Paris/Torres:  Flyboy Klingon Love
Doctor/Seven:  A new sort of humanity.
Kes/Neelix:  Because she likes his cooking.
BUT NEVER...Chakotay/Seven.  Obviously TPTB were still smoking the Worf/Troi crack.

That 70s Show
Eric/Donna:  Even after she went blonde.
Jackie/Hyde:  Not as vapid as Kelso, not as flighty and submissive as Fez

Ugly Betty
Betty/Henry:  Christopher Gorham is Love.
Betty/Daniel:  Because he relies on her more than either of them realizes.
Hilda/Santos:  Perhaps you notice a recurring theme of my favorite couples being killed off.

Will and Grace
Grace/Nathan:  Because it was fun and serious all at the same time.
Will/Vince:  Lawyer and Cop.
BUT NEVER...Will/Jack.  Ew.

Veronica Mars
Veronica/Duncan:  True love stories don't have endings.
Veronica/Logan:  When he's not being a jackass.

The X-Files
**Mulder/Scully**: The ship to end all ships.
Doggett/Reyes:  M/S Part 2.
Scully/Doggett:  For that moment when what's supposed to be isn't what you feel.

I may have forgotten some.  But that's what edits are for.
