Curtis wakes up feeling great. He feels invigorated, better than ever! He turns on his side with a contented yawn and a stretch and smiles affectionately at Newbie lying next to him. Newbie's sprawled out on his back, arms slung in either direction, mouth parted and hair all tousled, and just...adorable. Curtis realizes, then, that he's been a very bad boyfriend - particularly after Hope left. He's been inattentive and grouchy to the one person who cares about him, maybe even loves him! He should be counting his blessings, but he's been a butthead. This just won't do. An idea comes to him, a way to make it up to Newbie, or at least a start. He gives the other man a soft kiss on the cheek before rolling on out of bed.
After taking care of business and brushing his teeth Curtis takes a long, hot shower. He's cleaner than he's been in months. He combs his hair so it's nice and neat and shaves away his stubble, which had almost become a beard in his state of perpetual moping. He goes down to the clothing box to find something attractive to wear and comes away with a clean black t-shirt, a grey suit-jacket, and some nice black slacks. It's a little silly looking with his sneakers, but it will have to do. He wants to look good for Newbie.
Curtis makes a breakfast of muffins and mango slices, wanting to use the eggs but feeling it would be impolite and selfish to take something that's such a rarity here without asking first. He pokes around outside until he finds a flower, gets some juice, and arranges the breakfast on a tray for his boyfriend. As a last minute token he makes a card, a heart memo as he recalls Newbie had mentioned wanting, and even draws some hearts on it.
All of this completed Curtis makes his way back downstairs. He sets the tray on the bedside dresser and crawls into bed next to Newbie. "Sweetheart, wake up," he says softly, running a hand through Newbie's hair.
