The Pre-Thursday Night Post

Throughout the week, I've been writing down thoughts on my various shows and then saving them for one post that is entirely too long.

Sunday:
The Amazing Race: It’s been two years since Rob & Amber were scheming their way to top on a reality show, and I no longer feel guilty about rooting for them. The all-star edition will definitely be interesting, but I think it will be much tougher to see familiar teams get eliminated each week. Next week: Mirna and Charla vs. the Beauty Queens…now that is good reality TV.

Monday:
How I Met Your Mother: I can be really dense sometimes. Evidence: It wasn’t until I was drying my hair during the commercials of The Class that I realized why Marshall said “That’s two” after he slapped Barney. Then I was so happy because I had hoped the slap bet wouldn’t be forgotten. This was probably my favorite episode since the Slap Bet. I enjoyed Barney’s use of the word, moist, to irritate Lily. I don’t have a problem with that particular word, but there are others that I do cringe at the mention of. And for a few seconds, I thought the inevitable Ted-Robin breakup was upon us, but not yet. I think I’m still kind of hoping for a loophole on that one.

Heroes: I’m glad that if someone had to die it was Simone, because I was completely indifferent to her. I’m wondering how long it’s going to take Mohinder to figure out he’s traveling with Sylar, but I won’t complain too much because he is the man candy on this show. I’m looking forward to next week’s episode and learning more about HRG. I love how the promos talk about giving answers; they seem well aware that they’ve attracted disgruntled Lost fans.

24: I just finished season 4 this weekend so I was happy to see President Logan back on the current season. I don’t know how to describe how I feel about him other than he has a Nixon vibe and he seems to be another Nina---a character that I should not be so fond of but can’t help myself. After watching season 4, I completely understand the Chloe love now. She and her personality disorder are awesome. I also thought it was interesting that around the midway point they went back to more familiar faces at CTU. I was glad; Erin Driscoll did nothing for me. One question: What happened to Behrooz Araz?  I’m very excited to start season 5; Netflix needs to hurry up!

Today, I finally realized how I was familiar with Sherry Palmer---she was the nurse at Carol’s clinic on ER.

Tuesday:
Gilmore Girls: Nothing really happened in this episode, but I did enjoy seeing more of Emily. I especially liked the alcohol-induced bonding scene between her and Lorelai.

Not only does American Idol put House on multiple hiatuses, but now ABC has moved Dancing with the Stars to Monday nights to avoid it. This is going to be a recording nightmare. (And yeah, I see the hypocrisy in this rant.)  The new cast was announced and I wasn’t all that impressed, but I never am initially.

Wednesday:
Friday Night Lights:  How great was Mrs. Coach last night? I love that Matt & Julie have such an awkward and adorable realistic relationship. Coach Taylor was also his usual wonderful self. I especially enjoyed his conversation with Buddy Garrity and the death stare he was giving Matt at church. I just can’t say enough about how much I enjoy this show. And Buddy Garrity living with the Taylors’ next week? I can’t wait!

Lost: I said I would watch the first three episodes, and I did. Now, I’m going to take another break from Lost. Honestly, I wish I had the self-control to make this a permanent break-up, but it probably won’t happen. While I did enjoy last week’s episode, I didn’t like this episode. It definitely wasn’t all bad, but I don’t feel like I’m watching the same show anymore. I’ll still keep up online with recaps, spoilers, and reactions out of curiosity, but I just can’t watch it on a weekly basis for awhile. And whoever made that misleading promo and/or let it air shouldn’t have a job this morning…

I am not happy about this Grey’s Anatomy spin-off. Not happy at all. I love Addison, and I think Kate Walsh is fabulous, but I don’t want to see her leave Grey’s. Addison is able to interact so well with almost every other character, and I think this could really upset the balance on Grey’s. I would definitely watch this show because Addison has joined the ranks of my favorite TV redheads (Dana Scully, Miranda Hobbes, and Bree Van de Kamp), but I think this will probably be a very good example of why you don’t mess with success.
