Back Again

I haven’t posted since January 5th…Wow! It was a busy, busy final semester, but it’s over now and I have fully enjoyed May sweeps. I’m so glad we got a relatively normal end to the TV season, although it would have been much better if Pushing Daises had returned for a few episodes...

My thoughts on various season finales:

It's good to see you again! I missed you. (And I've still got to reply to your comment in my entry - I haven't forgotten!)

Grey's was my favorite finale (although everything is second to Moonlight this season). Anything with so many love stories packed into 2 hours was made just for me. I love that it ended hopefully. Alex/Izzie was my personal favorite, but I also loved the candles outlining Meredith and Derek's house. I just loved all of it. It was just what I needed since Lost continues to be a source of frustration with Jack/Kate. Oh, and I'm with you on the Meredith/shrink thing. Might be what I need too.

The Office was a little disappointing for me. Andy just annoys me anyway but to see him steal Jim's thunder bugged me even more. And I cannot understand what would make Angela say yes. I did love the Kevin storyline. That was hilarious. But I didn't like the Jan pregnancy story; I would have much preferred Michael be the father. And I was sad that Jim/Pam were left disappointed.

The Desperate Housewives ending was kind of weird to me. It was the same reason that the domestic Jate in SNBH didn't work - I can't relate to those people 5 years in the future because I haven't seen anything that led up to that place. I thought the Susan/Mike thing was the most surprising, but seeing Gaby like that was strange too. Anyway, I will be interested to see where they take it next season.

I'm hoping to also catch up with Bones over the summer. The flist just can't seem to stop raving about it. And for some reason Brothers and Sisters really didn't click with me. I love Sally Field (although her political rants at the Emmys last year kind of turned me off), and I tried to watch it for over a year, but it just wasn't for me.

I'm really glad Friday Night Lights is coming back for a third season, but the second season was such a letdown for me. It's one of those shows that I think would have been better immortalized if they'd just left it as one season. That would've broken my heart, but at least it would have remained near-perfect. But it does have a great cast and amazing characters, and luckily I do have DirecTV, so I will of course be tuning in in the fall.

I liked the Alex/Izzie storyline too on Grey's. Izzie has never been my favorite character, but I liked her when she was with Alex early on in the series. So I'm hoping they'll keep exploring their relationship next season. Justin Chambers is probably my favorite male actor on the show now, and he was great in the finale.

I'm interested to see how Desperate Housewives handles their twist next season. Will they have flashbacks to fill in the gaps like Lost? Or will Mary Alice just give us one long-winded voiceover explaining things? I didn't really like seeing Gaby so frazzled and exhausted. I don't mind that she has kids, but I've always enjoyed the "fabulous" aspect of her character. And I hope Carlos is still around.

For most of the 2nd season of FNL, I was disappointed. But I think things really improved in January. I was surprised at how much I grew to love Riggins...I never expected that due to his Sawyer-like qualities. But there's a big part of me that believes it should have been left as one perfect season too. I do think it will work in the show's favor to only have 13 episodes next season. That's about the length of a football season and hopefully they will avoid any accidental murder storylines.
