South Carolina Trip
Yes. I am engaged now. That's the big news. :D
We arrived in Jacksonville on Friday after a couple of delays (RARE from Southwest. The service was still great, though). The hotel room was FREEZING COLD, but we didn't stay there long. We went out to the beach nearby and walked along for a bit before settling down at an Irish Pub for food. I introduced my mom to Harp beer, and the restaurant in turn introduced me to a strange potato omelette that was awesome. My dad got Bangers and Mash which was equally delicious.
The trip up to Hilton Head the following day was easy enough, even with Althea sleeping on me the whole way. ;) The house was gorgeous.. completely perfect in all respects. It was even cold enough for me! Of course, everyone else was miserable until they got used to it, but I was in heaven. That night (Saturday) I managed to smuggle the ring in my swimsuit out on a nighttime walk on the beach. While out there under the stars I proposed, and she cried. :D So cute!
The rest of the week was pretty normal. We went shopping in a couple of the little cute shops around the island, I got slightly sunburned, we played lots of card games and were way too loud... Drank LOTS of alcohol... Great fun. I prepared dinner with Althea on Wednesday and it went very well. The dish I had chosen was a bit light, but I managed to spike it a bit to bring out more flavor. I was disappointed with how weak my chicken dish came out, though. I had never made it before, but with all the ingredients, I thought it sounded wonderful. Sadly, very little of the flavors came out in the dish... I think I could have made some marked improvements on it.
Anyway, if you guys have any questions, fire away. I'm inviting everyone I can to the wedding, but it's not really up to me how many people come. And no offense, but family comes before internet friends. I get four in my side of the wedding party, with one predetermined as Althea's brother, so the list stands as:
Best Man: Anthony J. (good friend from college here, I'm the best man in his wedding this Saturday so it would be poor form for me to not ask him)
Groomsman: Harold P. (Althea's Brother)
Groomsman: Andrew B. (known you forever, man. I am absolutely thrilled that you agreed and cannot wait to see you again)
Groomsman: Chris N. (roommate or otherwise lived around for almost 6 years up here in college, and considering all he's done for me I couldn't think of leaving him out)
For everyone else, I'm sorry I couldn't include you. I would love to include everyone, but that's just not possible... Still, Tony and Chris haven't accepted yet (I haven't asked yet either... ^_^;) so if one of them can't do it for whatever reason, I may call upon one of you.
I would have asked Rin, but I don't think a "Best Woman" would have gone over well with Althea's family. XD
