So, ive got my J-term project 99% finalized and locked in place:
Over the month of January, i will do a 1-credit independent study which will entail watching the entire run of "Babylon 5" and then writing a paper looking at the influence Hinduism seems to have had on the series (with me having found nothing from JSM about this topic myself, thus, using only sources on the subject, the series, and my own observations and connections between)
My paper will look at 3 or 4 subjects:
--The Intelligent Monistic Universe (the We are One concept, The Universe is conscious, etc.)
--Imperfect Gods (Shadows, Vorlons, and Lorien as the three classes of deity of Hinduism; 'false' gods, etc)
--The Binding Power of Words: Karmic Destiny (looking at Londo, especially, but G'Kar, Sheridan, Delenn, etc.)
Four Questions to Damnation (the 4 key questions in the series being the chains that bind us to the continuing realm of death and rebirth rather than allowing us to obtain enlightenment)
When all is said and done, I'm sure my paper will pop up here as at least one person has voiced interest.
Needless to say, I am more than a little excited.
