The epic journey home

Dear Diary,

Today was a day truth testament to how shit Sydney public transport is.

It all started in the morning. People the night before were psyching me up with the whole "OH, TOMORROW WILL BE 37 DEGREES" bullshit. Which is all well and good. So I woke up the next morning and walked out the door at 8:45am as usual. It was warm, but the wind was a cool breeze. All seemed ok. At work the A/C kept us cool (almost too cool, some of us put on jackets lol). Usually the A/C is proportionate with the outside weather, if its a REALLY hot day, the inside ambient rises a bit. But we had none of that today (maybe they fixed the A/C) and it remained cool as.

No, the penny dropped when we left from work. At about 5:30pm we walked out into the furnace that was the afternoon weather. No longer were we insulated by nice recirculated cool air, we were subjected to the hot hot weather heating the everything up. So we melted on out way to the station. Then we got to the station. Where the penny dropped yet again.

We got to the station, when it was 5:40pm. The train display told us the next train to West Ryde was 4:36pm. And that train was supposed to arrive in 16 minutes from that point. Then 2 minutes later, it was still 16 minutes. It was at that point my work mate and I launched a cunning plan. We would catch the train to Milsons Point, and either catch the train to Epping via Macquarie Park, or at the very least we could get on the West Ryde train a little further up line.

Getting to Milsons Point. Nothing on the boards about a train to West Ryde. By the time the Epping via Macquarie Park train came, there was no West Ryde train on the boards, and every train going south was PACKED. So then on a train to Epping via Macquarie Park. Then from Epping to West Ryde.

Two hours later, I'm home.

I <3 Sydney
