Remember what I said about the fic where Chii and Hideki are Yuui and Fye's parents? Here it is~~
Totally worksafe etc. No name, yet at least.
I'm definitely the luckiest guy in the World! Hideki decided as he watched his family get ready to go out. The boys were all excited and could hardly stay still while Chii tried to dress them up, concentrating on the task with the usual intensity she had for everything she did. Fye was helpful enough to keep his hand still while his mother put the glove on but it didn't help much when he was bouncing and waving and generally being over-energetic. Yuui still looked a bit sleepy, he'd just woken up from his nap, but it didn't stop him from running around their mother, waiting for his turn to be dressed.
Hideki caught Yuui in his arms, trying to keep his mind from blowing up from his son's cuteness. "Oopsie daisy! Let's try not to disturb Mommy."
Yuui giggled but nodded obediently. "Not to disturb Mommy!" he mimicked.
"That's right", Hideki grinned and lowered the kid on a chair to put on the shoes. "Now Yuui is a good boy and stays still, right?"
"Right!" Yuui confirmed but apparently some part of the information hadn't quite registered since the boy immediately started waving his legs back and forth.
Hideki sighed deeply and glanced at Chii and Fye, the former still too fixed on dressing Fye to notice what happened around her and the latter now grinning at his twin.
"We're going to see Gramma and Grampa!" Fye informed Yuui who nodded enthusiasticly, unknowingly making Hideki inwardly pound his head into the wall since he'd been just putting Yuui's hat on.
"And Auntie too!" Yuui told Fye in his turn.
"When are we going to see Granny and Grandad?" Fye asked.
"I don't know", Yuui admitted and turned to his father. "Daddy, when are we going to see Granny and Grandad?"
"Next month when Mommy and me have vacation. Then we're all going to go there and stay for a week", Hideki explained.
"Gramma and Grampa are Mommy's mommy and daddy", Fye told Yuui who nodded and added: "And Granny and Grandad are Daddy's mommy and daddy."
"We know, we know", said the twins in unison. And Hideki died.
"Daddy! Is Daddy feeling sick!" Yuui exclaimed, Fye repeating him.
Chii bend over Hideki and tilted her head. "What's wrong with Hideki?"
T-that's not helping! he whined in his head. "I'm alright, I'm alright..." I'm just so happy it hurts!
Finally they were ready to leave. "Is everybody ready?" Chii asked.
"Fye is ready!"
"Yuui is ready!"
"Daddy is ready too", Hideki said, grinning.
"Everybody is ready", Chii proclaimed happily and lead the way out.
It was an adventure in itself to get the twins safely to the Mihara's. They were easily excited about everything they saw and kept running off to see something fun. Luckily they were pretty easy to find since they never stopped talking to each other. It was just a phase, Hideki supposed. They had just recently learned to speak properly so it wasn't a surprise they'd like to talk a lot.
Chitose was already outside waiting when they got there. She was carrying a big basket with her and when she noticed them coming, she waved happily.
The twins ran to hug her legs, asking together what was in the basket.
Chitose petted both of their heads and answered that they would see it soon.
"Mommy!" Chii called cheerfully, running right after her sons.
"Hello, Elda. How are you?"
"Good afternoon, Chitose-san!" Hideki said. Then he looked around. "Where is Ichirou-san?"
"Ah" Chitose smiled. "That is..."
"ICCHAN NYORO YO~~~~!"
"Eeeeeeek!" the twins screamed, half laughing when their Grampa suddenly appeared, hanging upside down from a tree next to them. Hideki yelled too and wondered then if he'd ever get used to his father-in-law's little quirks.
"Ichirou, I think you should come down so we can get going", Chitose addressed her husband who immediately turned himself around and landed (slightly wobbling) on his feet. He put his arm gently, almost shyly, on his wife's shoulder's.
"Daddy!" shouted Chii happily and threw her arms around Icchan. (Fye and Yuui watched their mother and then copied her by hugging Hideki's legs, shouting "Daddy!" Hideki laughed and ruffled their hairs.)
"Good morning, Elda! This guy has been nice to you, hasn't he?" he questioned, pointing at Hideki.
"Yes! Hideki is really nice to me!" Chii nodded fervently. Hideki just head-palmed. He was getting used to the constant suspicion. (Although he had the feeling that most of it was just for show.)
"Daddy is a nice guy!" Yuui confirmed.
"Even though he's a virgin!" added Fye.
There was a silence as everybody stared at the little boy.
"WHAT!?" Hideki spazzed, blushing deep red. "I'M NOT!!! WHERE DID YOU GET THAT!?"
"Daddy, what is a virgin?" Yuui asked his face full of innocence.
"I HAVE KIDS, I'M NOT A VIRGIN!!!" Hideki screamed desperately. "IT'S ADULT STUFF, I'LL TELL YOU WHEN YOU'RE OLDER", he answered Yuui.
"Virgin is someone who hasn't made love with anyone, right?" Chii asked her parents.
"Yes, that's true", Chitose replied with an amused smile while Icchan freaked out together with Hideki.
"Okay!" Yuui and Fye said in unison, neither of them actually getting what making love meant but they supposed it had something to do with pink hearts.
They took a bus to the hospital since it was a long way from the town centrum. There they had a hard time trying to stop the twins from talking to all the other passengers about whatever came to their mind.
"I'm glad the boys are so lively", Chitose commented.
"Yeah... I guess it's good. But they can be a workload sometimes", Hideki laughed.
"Yuui and Fye shouldn't make so much noise in the bus", Chii told the boys, "It disturbs the other passengers. Hideki said so."
"Okay!"
"Mommy, mommy, what's that!?" Yuui asked, pointing outside.
"That is a temple. Temple is were you go to festivals", she explained.
"Are we going to a festival, mommy?" Questioned Fye.
"We can go when they have a festival."
Icchan snatched Yuui from his mother. "Hey, hey! Leave your mommy in peace for a while! Aren't you two going to talk to Grampa at all!"
Yuui giggled. "Yes!"
"Grampa, grampa! What's that?" Fye pointed at a water tower.
They finally arrived at the hospital parking lot and walked accross it to the entrance. The boys were now each clinging to one of their grandparents' hand... or they did so until they got bored and raced Icchan to the entrance hall. There the whole family started the Don't-Speak-Except-In-Whisper game so that the boys wouldn't get excited and disturb the patients. Hideki diligently kept it on even when talking to the reception staff. Well, it wasn't as if they weren't already getting weird looks thanks to Icchan who was currently inspecting the Hospital cafe's table wear the boys as his research assistants.
"Aunty Freya!" the boys screamed, forgetting the rules of the game when they found Freya from the hospital's living room. She sat on her wheelchair beside a window, reading. She turned at the noise and a rare smile lit up on her face. Hideki felt his heart melt at the sight. He was so glad that she seemed to be doing better now. He noticed Chitose and Icchan quietly watching their daughter while she greeted her nephews. They were holding each other tightly.
Chii hugged her sister as a hello and immediately started talking excitedly, the boys bouncing and yelling their own stories at the same time. Freya listened to them quietly, nodding every so often to show that she understood and replying shortly about her own condition.
"The doctors say... that I'm better", she told them, sounding almost thoughtful. Then she lifted her eyes at her parents who came to greet her.
"Hello, Freya", Chitose said, smiling almost painfully. Her father just nodded.
"Hello, Mother", she replied softly. "Hello, Father."
"Did they say when you could come home?" Chitose asked.
Freya looked down. "Not yet."
"It's alright, sweety", Chitose said gently, petting her head. "We will come see you as often as we can."
They met Freya's doctor afterwards. He didn't say much of anything new, only that she in deed seemed to be getting a bit better. He stressed however that her brain had suffered such damages that it would be a miracle if she would ever be completely healed. It was not even certain if her memory would ever come back or if she could ever walk again. Her IQ level would probably stay low for the rest of her life. But he did say that he was almost ready to promise that she would be able to go back home within a year.
They left the office and Chitose fell against her husband, crying. "She can come home, she can come home..."
"It's... great", said Icchan brokenly.
Yuui and Fye had been waiting outside with a nurse. Freya had already gone back to her room to sleep. As if reading each other's thoughts, both boys went to hug their grandparents' legs. "Is Gramma sad?" asked Fye. "Is Grampa sad?" asked Yuui.
"No, we're just so happy that Freya can come home soon", Chitose smiled through her tears.
Hideki glanced at Chii who smiled at him. "Isn't it great, Hideki?"
"Yes, it's great." He spontaneously hugged her.
They were quiet when they walked back to the bus stop. Quiet, but not sad, just a little bit worried.
"It'd be nice if Freya could come together with us", Chii pondered.
"Yes, it would. But soon... soon", Chitose said, still smiling.
"Daddy, carry me!" Fye whined and Hideki lifted him up on his shoulders.
"Daddy, why is Aunty Freya always in the hospital?" asked Yuui.
"Err..." Hideki glanced at the Miharas. "Aunty Freya has been very sick so she couldn't leave the hospital yet. But she will be better soon."
