[[There’s a new Ahiru in town. But this one seems… different than the others, even more different from the heartless Princess. As she’s wandering around the streets, it’s quite obvious that her skin is a shade of blue not usually seen on living people, and her gown is tattered and half-rotted away.]]

Fakir…? Rue…? Mytho…? This isn’t the world of ( Read more... )

[ The Jumi Knight approaches the girl somewhat cautiously, eying her apparel. ]

By Fa'Deil, another one? ...But she looks to be in worse shape than the others. Has she been attacked? Erm, hello. Are you new here?

Wh- FAKIR!

[[And this is Ahiru flinging herself at him and hugging him tightly, babbling as she does so.]]

Fakir! I was so worried and I didn't get to say goodbye and- ... oh.

[[She scrambles backwards, looking flustered.]] S-sorry! I thought you were someone I knew!

WAUGH! [ He flails at the unexpected embrace, nearly toppling over backward and a stain of crimson dusting his cheeks.

Blinking as she finally disengages, he composes himself and shakes his head with a light sigh. ]

...It's fine. I imagine you're not used to seeing doubles yet. Your name is Ahiru, I take it?

Oh, yes! [[She curtsies, smiling brilliantly.]] Who are you? You're a Fakir, right?

[ He offers a short nod in return. ]

Yes, that's right. Though be forewarned there are quite a few of my doubles here. I think we outnumber any others.

[ Finally noting the blueness to her skin, he raises an eyebrow. ]

...Are you alright?

I heard there were a lot of Fakirs here. I'll try not to attack any of them, though!

And yes, I'm fine. [[And another smile.]] I'm just dead. Why is everyone so surprised when I say that?

Dead? [ His eyes widen slightly. She did vaguely resemble the undead he had fought before in the Tower of Lieres, but she didn't look anything like a monster. ]

...Well, that explains the skin tone, at least. I see. What world do you come from?

The land of the dead. It doesn't have any other name, but we used to call it downstairs. [[She laughs.]] I loved it there. The view from the cliffs was amazing...

It didn't have a moon, though. Not like upstairs, or this world. [[She twirls in place a few times.]] What world are you from, then?

Hm. I suppose that would be near the equivalent of the Underworld, though yours sounds more pleasant than that.

[ He's quiet and thoughtful for a moment, recalling the last state he had see his own land in. ]

My world is called Fa'Diel. There were many years of war between the various races that reside there for the remaining power of mana and most of it is in ruin now.

Oh, yes! It's lovely in the land of the dead... everyone is so happy all the time. It's because nobody's suffering anymore, you know. There's no war or disease or anything.

[[Maybe that was a bad thing to mention right after he's told her about his own war-torn world. She blinks.]] But I guess you'd be pretty happy to get out of it now, huh? This place seems pretty peaceful, compared to something that's been at war for years.

Happy, huh? I never thought of the afterlife that way, but I guess you have a point.

[ He shakes his head in response to her question. ]

My race is dying out, thanks to a jewel hunter by the name of Kraehe. I was fortunate enough to find my Guardian here in this world, but the few remaining of my kind are still being hunted by that woman back in Fa'Diel while I'm stuck here. At this rate, the Bejeweled City will never rise again.

Oh... I'm sorry. [[She looks down at the ground... and then glances back up with a hopeful expression on her face.]] Well... Maybe since you left the situation's gotten better? Maybe she's been defeated?

[ He sighs and shrugs his shoulders. There's no use dwelling on it now. He would only get angry about it all over again. ]

I suppose it's possible. Unlikely, but possible.

Have you found anyone from your world yet?

No... I just got here. [[She sighs again, a long, slow one.]] I didn't even get to say goodbye to anyone. Except Mytho and Rue, but they probably have no idea where I really am anyway. I don't think anyone from my world is going to come here, anyway, most of them are dead with no unfinished business.

knight_of_lapis May 21 2009, 00:06:23 UTC
Hn. They may very well show here at some point. This place doesn't seem picky about who it brings. And others from the same worlds do tend to come.

Do they... look similar to you then?

duck_moon May 21 2009, 00:09:00 UTC
Hmm? Do you mean are they dead? Well, yes. Most of them are. Mytho and Rue aren't, but they're the only living friends of mine. I guess Pique and Lilie aren't, not in the technical sense of the word, but they do live in the Land of the Dead...
