The Basics
Name: Janet
Nickname: Mangaka-chan
Age: 21
Gender: female
Personality
Likes: Hmm…let’s see: drawing and experimenting with different media, reading and writing fanfics, reading (mostly mystery and fantasy genre), riding my bicycle, biology/science in general, Shakespeare, sleeping! =D
Dislikes: Airplanes (aerophobia), people who are disrespectful, driving, the summer heat, taking tests and generally stressing out over them, plagerism
Hobbies: Art is definitely my one major hobby. I’ve been drawing since I was about five years-old and haven’t stopped since. Writing came along during high school thanks to fanfiction.
Talents: Er, I guess I would say drawing, since people do say they like my art. But I don’t know about writing since my grammar is somewhat lacking at times. ^^;; I think I do okay since I usually do pretty well in literature and English classes.
Ambitions/Goals: Right now I’m aiming to become a Microbiologist, though I have to say my dream job would be either become a mangaka and get my own series published or do character designs for a video game company.
Strong points: I try to do my best with all things and as thoroughly as I can. I respect my elders and their greater experience, and I’m not afraid to ask questions when I don’t understand something. With my friends I strive to be dependable and open minded; someone they can talk to. I stand up for myself and those around me.
Weak points: My temper and patience level are a bit short and I can get frustrated easily as well as being quite stubborn and cynical at times.
Your personality in 3 words: Creative, careful, thoughtful
Mature/immature: I act mature most of the time, but I do goof off in front of friends and family, especially if I’m just relaxing and such. But otherwise at work and at school I’m pretty serious and focused.
Outgoing/shy: I tend to watch things from the sideline rather then actively going out and meet people. But it really depends on the occasion and the situation. If I’m amongst people I know then I tend to be a more outgoing, but if I’m in a room with total strangers I’d just watch and won't approach anyone unless there's a need to.
Graceful/clumsy: Hard to say. XD;; I trip ever once in a while, but have rarely fallen flat on my face. I don’t know if this even counts but I think I have a pretty good sense of balance because after I’ve washed a sink full of dishes I can pill every single last pot and bow onto the dish rack without everything tumbling down.
Optimistic/pessimistic: Pessimistic. I find that by being optimistic, when the fatal blow finally comes it only makes the pain worse. At least I’ll be mentally prepared for the worst and that softens the blow at times.
Leader/follower: Leadership I suppose, but that’s because people says I’m kind of bossy. XD;; I tend to have my own ideas about how something will be done and I tend to come out and say it. If someone else has another idea though, I would gladly listen to what he or she has to say as well, but I don’t think I consciously try to boss people around. I just have my own idea of things, I guess.
Favorite
Color: Blue, green, and earth tones
Animal: I’d say a horse, because it’s a very dignified looking creature, but I also have a huge weakness for anything cute and fluffy. Whenever I see a baby panda on TV I have the uncontrollable urge to hug something, be it the poor soul next to me or a couch pillow. ^^;;
Food: Curry! Japanese curry to be specific, and just about anything curry flavored (e.g. curry flavored bread, curry flavored instant noodle, etc.)
Scents/smells: I doubt anyone knows this, but there’s this scent my grandmother uses called “Hua Lu Shui” in China. It has a very strong and distinctive smell which one of my friends described as “a mix of perfume and incense.” It helps me relax and remind me of the wonderful times I spent with my grandparents.
Fairy tale: I’m thinking maybe the Ugly Duckling, because it shows that people can raise above other’s judgment.
Princess Tutu character, explain: Fakir is definitely my favorite. He’s complex and it was really interesting to watch his character evolve and grow throughout the show. I like how he’s kind of rough around the edges but is kind and noble at heart. He also reminds me a bit of myself, because both of us are hot tempered and can be stubborn at times. Ahiru comes after Fakir in ranking, but she is so cute and funny to watch. It’s hard not to feel touched by her trials and tribulations, and it’s heart warming that a little duck really can do so much for so many characters.
Least Favorite
Color: Any really bright, neon color; it hurts my eyes. x_x
Animal: Slugs. Had one crawl up my leg once and that did it for me.
Food: Chopped meat. For some reason I just have a hard time chewing and swallowing diced meat; it makes me want to throw up. I don’t even know why, it’s just one of those quirks I guess.
Scents/smells: Anything acrid and really strong.
Fairy tale: Any of the “damsel in distress” stories. I find those really clichéd, although I do admit if done well, things based on that thread of plot can still be interesting.
Princess Tutu character, explain: I don’t really have one since all the characters are pretty well developed. I might’ve said Autor but Haley managed to change my perception of his character.
Questions
Have you ever taken ballet lessons? How did you find the experience? Nope, but I did consider taking Introductory Ballet in college.
If you find out that the only way to save the one you love is to disappear into a flash of light, what would you do? I think I would probably take a deep breath and say “very well then,” but not before I’ve exhausted all other methods to save said person.
If your life were a fairy tale, which would it be (and why?) Hmm, probably Ugly Duckling again. Though I’m not born a swan or anything like that, I believe I’ve risen above the ridicule and bullying from elementary school all the way to high school.
Picture I don’t have a good picture of myself on hand so I’ll just describe what I look like.
I have black hair and dark eyes (I have a hard time telling if it’s black or brown -_-;;) and I wear glasses. My hair is usually tied into a pony tail, and if it helps any, my pony tail looks a lot like Fakir’s (not quite a poofy as his though).
