Some randomity.

I was perpetually sleepy today. It's too much effort keeping a routine these days. I need an outside infuence.

So I drank coke. 1 cup. Thanks to the opened bottle left in the fridge from yesterday. It's actually fine. I don't want or need more than one. Like a recovering addict. Though I probably won't reach for another any time soon.

I'm getting into Prince and Queen. I actually dislike 80's music. Sometimes the sound just offends me. Early digital stuff doesn't age well. I listen to Kiss by Prince and the effects are just awful, but the tune just barely survives. So I can enjoy it on some level. I think he'd be pretty amazing live. Plus I didn't know he was such a good guitar player. He's very spare but he's so effortless, when he's on he's really on. I would get his stuff. It's just a shame it hasn't aged that well.
Then there's Queen. Their sound hasn't aged as badly as Prince cos they're more rock than pop. I really love Freddie Mercury's voice. I had no idea he was actually Indian. Like full indian. Not half half. Which also explained why I always thought he looked a bit odd... and scary. He was either very fair skinned or he put on lots of make-up. Anyway.. his voice. Nothing compares.. at least no male voice. I bow down to his voice. Plus Brian May on Guitar. Bow down to both of them.
The first time I saw Prince was on VideoHits. They played the video clip for 1999. How corny and lame the 80's seem. That was back when I thought Prince was a band. And I first heard Queen at the end of The Mighty Ducks. I thought "this is a cool song". I thought Queen was one of those one-hit wonder bands with We Are The Champions as their one song.

Our society is going down the drain. We must all connect more. We're too independent and solitary. We pine for more innocent times while, at the same time, we long for more and more.... Where do our true desires lie?

Tune in for more Jane-osophy next week!

ETA: Ok so I know I completely condemned the new Pride & Prejudice. Mainly because I didn't like the thought of Keira as Elizabeth and their Darcy looked so dreary and lame. And nothing compares to the BBC production right? But then I saw this picture.

And I thought, hmm.. actually their Jane looks a lot better. Then I thought, actually their Bingley's not that bad either and they look quite cute together. It's also quite sweet that they dated in real life.
Anyway I now see myself watching this one later.
