I went to the ER last month because I developed blistering on my hands that I thought might be an allergic reaction to some medicine I was taking.

I filled out a small pink form with my name, address and complaint and sat in the waiting room.

And sat in the waiting room.

And sat in the waiting room.

Finally, my mom called and gave me my dermatologist's number so I could set up an appointment with her, since I wasn't short of breath and I wasn't really displaying any other symptoms of an allergic reaction to medication. So I set up an appointment with my dermatologist and went to the ER desk to tell the receptionist I was leaving.

She said, "Ok, just hold on one second because we need to have you sign something."

A nurse came out and gave me an AMA form to sign. That was the only time I saw a nurse during my entire visit.

So today, I get a bill in the mail from the hospital for $165. $165 for sitting in a waiting room. I was never even triaged, for God's sake.

So I called the number on the bill, and the woman was like, "Well, if they took you to the back and you filled out forms, that's how much it costs." And I was like, "But they didn't take me to the back. I signed in at the front desk and sat there for a really long time, and then I signed out and left. I was never triaged, and I certainly never saw a physician." "It says that you're uninsured. Do you not have insurance, or did you just not give it to them?" "No, I have insurance, but I didn't give it to them because I never saw anyone."

So she told me to call this other number, and I called it and was connected to another number, where I got some lady's voicemail and left a message.

This sucks.
