Well, I just got back from seeing 3 Doors Down in concert at DTE with my parents. It was really great! They were there with special guests Staind, Finger Eleven, and Sick Puppies. Our seats were pretty good, we were like the 21st row on the left side. And the weather was perfect, not too hot and not too cold.
When we came in, Sick Puppies were already playing, so we missed most of their set by the time we got to our seats. On our way to our seats, we ran into Larry (my cousin Jon's dad), who was working the show. It was kind of a surprise, but it was cool. Anyway, the few songs we heard from Sick Puppies were pretty good. I loved how they had a chick as a bassist. You don't see many girls as guitarists or bassists. She was rocking out and it was really neat.
Next was Finger Eleven. I like them, they have a lot of good songs. They played really well, and I knew almost every song. Though, they had this one guitarist who liked to play his guitar without the strap, so he was like holding it and swinging it around while he played. It was really flipping strange. But interesting. And the other guitarist, on our side, was pretty good. He had a mohawk and sang the harmonies with the singer. He had a nice voice and good guitar skills. The last song they played was kinda cool: it was a medley of their song Paralyzer, Take Me On by Franz Ferdinand, a Led Zeplin song, and a Pink Floyd song.
After they were done, my mom wanted to use the restroom and so we went there while the next band set up. It was funny because this one lady comes up to me and says "Oh, my daughter absolutely loves Dir en grey!". XD I was wearing one of my many Diru shirts, and it surprised me that someone actually recognized them.
The next band was Staind. I'm not particularly fond of them, but they weren't too bad. I couldn't really see them that well because these tall people came and were standing in front of us. It was getting really annoying. Most of the songs they played I didn't know. o.O; But they played a Bob Seger song, and everyone went nuts for it. Near the end of their set, Larry came to our row and called us over. He said his boss said that he could get us closer, but we'd have to move back if the people who had the seats came. He moved us up so that we were in the last row of the front area, about 10 rows from the stage. I could see a lot better, and I was really grateful that he did that. The people never came, so we got to stay there.
Finally, the moment I was waiting for came. The sounds of a train coming started, and then 3 Doors Down came on, starting with their song, Train. This is the set list as well as I can remember it. I might be missing some, and they're probably not in order, except for the first 4 and last 4.

They were really exciting to watch, and they all played really really well. I was right there along with them, singing and headbanging. And I could see them really well, which just made it even cooler. They had these things on the sides of the stage that would shoot a loud sound like a gunshot and flames. We could actually feel the heat from the flames. They added a cool effect to the show. But they played all of my favorite songs of theirs, which made me extremely happy.
The bassist liked to play around with the crowd a lot. He would look at the crowd and pump his fists into the air, urging us to do the same. And he would prance around onstage and sing along with the lyrics. He even interacted with the other members quite a bit, like putting his arm around one of the guitarist's shoulders while he played. He was quite fun. ^^ The other members were great, too. Brad, the singer, was really gracious to us, saying thank you so much after almost every song. They seem like really sweet guys.
After jamming out to Loser, they said goodnight and left the stage. A few minutes later, the drummer came back out and kinda stole the microphone, setting it on the ground. Then Brad came running out and picked it up. XD The rest followed, and they started their encore. The last two songs were really rocking and fun. It was sad to see them leave again, and they thanked us all one more time before they were gone.
I had a lot of fun. I always love going to concerts. They're a great outlet and it's so amazing to watch the people you listen to actually be in front of you and play their music. I'm really glad we got to go, and I'm thankful for the unexpected gift of Larry getting us closer. That was really nice of him. I hope 3 Doors Down comes back again sometime. They play really good music, and some of their songs are very near and dear to my heart. They're really a great band.
