The Phishing Emails Resume

Sep 01, 2006 15:15

I posted some of my emails previously as I messed with an email scam artist. It seemed that after I told the scammer, Li, that i wanted to grease him up and make him my cabana boy, I was placed on some sort of "Do not reply to this guy if he emails us" list. But apparently I've responded to someone who didn't pay to view a copy of that list.....

Here's the scam email that was sent to me. Their emails are in normal type, while my responses are in bold italics:

Dear Rosaline,

I understand the need to pay the duty fees. How about
we make a deal. If you pay the $296.50 for the duty
fees, I will gladly share $500 of my prize with you.
You must admit, that is a generous offer on my part.
Roseline, are you in Nigeria? Are you married?
Please let me know as soon as possible about your
thoughts on my proposal.

Thank you,
Steve

Hello Steve,
I am in receipt of your email correspondence. I am in Nigeria at the
moment but I am original from the UK. As per your request I can only help
with a $50, while you make up the balance for the notarization of your
funds. As soon as the bank releases your draft to me, I will send it to
you through any of the reliable courier company. To answer your other
question, I was married before but I had a divorce. Anyway I don’t
think this is the best channel to discuss about my personal issues. You
can call me on phone, if you will like to know more about me. Meanwhile I
have just found out from the bank that you can make the payment via
western union money transfer. You can send down the payment with the
following information to enable me act accordingly. I hope I will get the
money after you receive your prize from the bank. You will use this
information to wire the fund via western union: NAME: Mrs. Augusta Abdulmalik
CITY: Lagos : Country: Nigeria.
As soon as you wire the fund let me know for follow up with the bank
proceedings.

We await your response.

Yours sincerely,
Roseline Obaseki (Esq.

Roseline,

First of all, I am utterly enchanted by you. If I had
$1,000, I would give it to you with no questions.
Unfortunately, the only money that I do have at the
moment is $63 that I earned from recycling aluminum
cans. I have to wake up very early in the morning to
collect enough empty beer cans from people's garbage
cans. Usually I just buy beer with the money, but
with the $63, I could possibly use that for this
situation. However, I will need to borrow $233 from
you to cover the remainder. I can tell from the tone
of your email that you are a very kind, and
understanding human being who would help anyone out.
All that I need is for you to mail me a certified
cashiers check for $233 as soon as is humanly
possible.

In regards to your personal situation, I would love it
if you would go ahead and give me your phone number as
you suggested. After I receive this lottery money, I
would love to fly to Nigeria to have dinner with you.
When you give me your number, I can give you a call.

xoxo
Steve

I now await a reply.
