The sweet smell of success (I hope)

Well, as I'm writing this, Mikomi is taking a test which will hopefully get her into school next Monday. And yes, this is the "reely cool" school that allows girls to wear slack in the winter. They're pretty strict about that though. You can only wear them from December 1st until February 28th. And it has to be colder than 30 degrees outside. And yes, they have a thermometer at the school that they use, and a phone number you can call in the morning that will give you a recording of the temperature. And I guess if you try to push it with them, they aren't very happy. I don't see what the big deal is, pants aren't evil, but so far this is the only school that will allow her to wear them at all.

We checked out four school yesterday, this one being the first. I sorta told these.. bended versions of the truth. I said Mikomi had been home schooled, which is true. I did not mention she's been going to school for about a month. I just figured that wasn't really important. I guess you could call it a lie by omission.

All the schools wanted copies of her grades, but this school impressed me by taking the time to talk to her immedietly and to make sure I was out of the room when they did it, so they could get honest answers from her. I guess she made a good impression, because when we got home yesterday, after going to the other two schools, we had a message that she was report for a test.

So, she's taking the test right now and if she passes it, she can start school on Monday, which will be a big relief to me. I wasn't sure how I was going to organize my hours at work if I'd had to home school her for the rest of the term. I'm not worried about the test either, because I was assured that if her records were accurate (which they are) she shouldn't have any problem passing it.

The other two schools looked at her grades and told me a price, which didn't really impress me. Grades don't mean that she'll do well in the school. There are so many other factors to consider. This school seemed a lot more concerned about the other things too.

I really have a good feeling about this. Even Mikomi thinks that if she has to go to school, this isn't a bad place to go.

I promised Mikomi when she was done, I'd take her out to lunch too. But don't worry, Father, she'll still be over for training with you this afternoon. And speaking of stopping over, when I pick her up, I've got something I want to talk to you about, okay?

She did have lessons with Vezelay yesterday too, which as expected, she loved.

I'm in a quandry now. I don't want Miko to rush through her tests, but I do want to get some lunch and then make it to Goten's class. I don't want to miss out on lasagna!

And as I wrote this, the door opened and Mikomi just came out. She's got that grin on her face that tells me she feels she did good.
