Happy New Year, Friends!
I hope this finds you and yours well and in good post-holiday spirits, ready to take on 2009!
Three months out of surgery, I am continuing to heal at a steady clip on all realms. I am looking forward to spending these winter months honoring my commitment to consistency in movement through quiet and creative healing activities as well as kicking off training and activism for the 2009 Walk for Breast Cancer this May! Please feel free to follow along on my recovery blog (bottom of the page):
http://tinyurl.com/4p75p3 I'm required to raise $1,800 to participate in the walk, but I'm hoping to raise much, much more. To kick it off I'm thrilled to announce for the second year running:
Raffle for Early Detection Awareness!!
My dear friend and amazing massage therapist, Ahmed Abdallah, of The Nile Oasis Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork in Columbia, MD has once again graciously volunteered to sponsor my efforts with the donation of gift certificates for massages. I have been benefiting from his generosity by receiving bodywork to aid in my healing process. Believe me, you don't want to miss out. You don't have to take my word for it, though, I'd be happy to put you in touch with the winners from last year's raffle.
Here's the deal:
I will enter your name in the raffle to win a one hour massage for every $10 you contribute. So, if you give $10, your name will be entered once; if you give $20, your name will be entered twice, and so on. The first drawing will be on March 1, 2008.
If you just can't wait that long, gift certificates for one hour massages are available immediately for a contribution of $150 or more. Start the year off with a rejuvenating massage or give the gift of touch to a friend or loved one. Celebrating and Encourage Health and Wellbeing, Birthdays and Anniversarys, Innaguration recovery, Valentines Day...
You can make a 100% tax deductible donation to my fundraising campaign on the website below by clicking on the "Click Here to Support Me" tab. If you would prefer to write a check, please e-mail me and I will send you a form and a stamped envelope.
If you are not able to contribute financially at this time (and even if you are) please consider sharing the link to my story with your friends, family, neighbors, colleagues, communities, and listservs -- anyone you think could benefit from hearing it and/or might be interested and able to support the cause. Fundraising is important, but spreading awareness for early detection and working to lower the standard age for screening is my top priority. If you believe in what I am doing, please help by spreading the word near and far!
It's still early, so if it calls to you, get involved! Register to walk at the link below - I'd love to have your company along the way. Feel free to ask me about the experience, it's a huge commitment and I'd be happy to chat with you to help you decide if it's a good choice for you. Crew members and volunteers are also needed in various capacities to help the walk go smoothly behind the scenes.
I'm also open to any fundraiser ideas you may have to share and walking buddies are always welcome.
Thanks, as always, for your support and care; you really do make a difference in the lives of so many within our communities who are in need.
Take good care,
Sarah
