Only in Takoma Park?

We did the Solstice Burning bowl/Tree of life ceremony with David, Heidi and Arnie (& Bear!)at mom's after the last candle went out and we finished a lively game of dreidel last night. Mike and I went outside to light our lists in a cast iron cauldron while everyone else watched out the window. Just as the flames went out I heard a chorus of 'Deck the Halls' off in the distance. Carolers? No, that only happens in the movies. Must be a Christmas party. And then it got louder and closer and was clearly live human beings singing in unison at the house across the street! Ran back in the house and got mom to come out on the porch just as they arrived in the driveway and started Jingle Bells. She got into it and we both started singing with/to them. It was pretty neat and put us all in a good place to start our lists of what we want to bring into our lives and 'plant' them in mom's back yard.

Cool to bring all the seasonal celebrations together!
