Here I am peeking my head out of my shell, so to speak.
Anyone looking around my house can tell I love turtles. Figurines take up an entire area and a beloved necklace, that I received as a gift, constantly hangs close to my heart. If I ever got a tattoo it would be of a turtle. However, I'm not that brave.
I own a red-eared slider named Yoda. Like his namesake, he's very wise. Temperamental and fickle sometimes, but wise. He hisses and snaps but its all for show. I've come to identify traits of myself that are similar to turtles. Mostly I can hide in my shell with the best of them.
From time to time that is a good thing. Its warm and comforting in my shell. I'm safe and secure there. Everyone needs a shell to hide in. Unfortunately, we can forget to come out, to live, and to crawl out of the darkness of ourselves.
So that's why I'm here. I need to come out of my shell.
