Okay, so 2008's been sometimes awesome and sometimes... not so awesome. But despite all that, it can't be denied that a lot of lulz were had, a lot of epic shizz was discovered, and a ton of new fandoms were found \o/ As a testament to all the epicness 2008 has introduced me to, here is my 2008's most awesome shizz list 8-B

The Kooks was a band I found through a... fanvid :| (shameless). Their lively sound and British accent just hooked me and i dled their two albums right away \o/ Holy crap, they're fun to listen to... especially 'She moves in her own way'. And i saw them featured in Nickelodeon, so it's all good B-)
I love Jason Castro, and he's my American Idol ♥ He has it all. THE HAIR. THE DORKY SMILE. THE MELLOW EMO SONGS. GOOD GOD. He should've won :(( I don't care what the duo-David fans say =(( Also, May'n is Sheryl's singing voice. I've had Sheryl's songs on loop constantly since Macross F started ♥ I'm no music fan but i totally totally adore May'n's songs for Sheryl ♥
Four-Color Love Story by the Metasciences has it ALL. Pleasant indie-ish melody. Comic book references. ROMANCE. It's automatically one of my favorite songs ♥ I will follow you into the dark by death cab for cutie is one of the most touching songs I've ever heard. Beautiuful. Viva Death Cab \o/

To be honest, I only got my DS-lite this December (I ♥ u ahia) but I'm totally addicted ♥ I use up its battery almost everyday :| My holidays have been spent with my DS (and LAYTON and MARTH and my TURTWIG whose name is Robin) My thumbs are beginning to feel funny =))
Guitar Hero = most addicting game ever. Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones is all sorts of epic. Giant cast and awesome support conversations ♥ One of the few games I've finished in a long long time. I FLOVE FLOVE FLOVE IT and Franz the Cavalier ♥

Iron Man is simply just magnificent awesome glooory. And I watched it with AJ41 too, so that adds to the epic. Tony and Pepper from the movie are unforgettable and simply PERFECT. GOOD GOD, I adore this movie to bits. Breakfast Club is just one of those movies I watched and thought that I should have watched it earlier. Epic. One of the best teen movies ever. ♥
Byousoku no 5cm was so beautiful and sad, it made me cry =(( I will never go on a Makoto Shinkai marathon ever again. I will only cry =(( The song: One more time, one more chance is also perfect. I love listening to it. ♥♥♥
Harvey Dent/Two-Face is totally my favorite Batman villain ♥ and Aaron Eckhart portraying him in The Dark Knight was absolutely perfect. I'm a sucker for the White Knight types ♥ and Harvey Dent is just such a complex and tragic character... *siiiiiigh*
Short shorts Bleeker and pregnant teen Juno were just the sweetest movie couple I saw this year. Though Wall-E and EVE come so very very close, the magic of orange tictacs, couches on a lawn, and guitars by the porch prevaaail. The Juno OST is also ace ♥

I toned down the TV watching habit a whole lot this year but there's one show I couldn't ever give up even if Macross F had a sequel that aired 1 hour everyday. HIMYM continues to be leeegendary - funny with geeky references and awesome characters. Barney/Robin just amps the epic ♥ and the return of Robin Sparkles doesn't hurt B-)
Despite all the weird looks this will get me, Bart Bass is the tv character that moved me the most this year \o/ I also find him kinda hot :| in an wold man kind of way... >.> <.< err... year. Anyway, Bart is awesome. I raged at his non-death of a death D:< even Caleb was shown to fall into the pool! On the other hand, Mark continues to be steeaaamy and my favorite character in greys ♥ I also ship Mark with Lexi because it's adorable ♥
90210's Silver is cool, hardcore, and geeky all at the same time B-) Best new character this season for sure. Though 90210 gets a bit weak sometimes, Silver (and Dixon) is always fun to watch \o/ Robin's return as Robin Sparkles earlier this year, her dog-turned-turtle fiasco, loltastic daddy issues, and all the Canada jokes at her expense make her awesome. Robin being Robin makes her my favorite character in HIMYM, and one of my favorite characters of TV ♥
Silver/Dixon is issue-free, unconventional and geeky. What more can you ask for? Seriously, best couple in 90210 bar NONE \o/ I'm not really one of those die-hard Chuck/Blair shippers but this season has crafted the Chuck and Blair love story beautifully. Episode 1, 9 (i think?) and 13 of season 2 were simple gems. Wow.

Eeep longest section =)) but I adore comics, so it's expected.
Scott Pilgrim is my best (and funniest) read of the year. It's probably also my best purchase of the year \o/ There are no words to describe Scott Pilgrim's awesome. It has heart. It has soul. IT HAS LEVEL UPPPS.
Josh Whedon's Runaways run made me pull my hair out, but the big finale of Astonishing X-Men this year (and really, the ENTIRE RUN) was so epic. This is the comic that turned me to the Scott/Emma side. I love it so much. And Scott's heroism and awesomeness? EPIC EPIC EPIC. Amy Wolfram and Karl Kershl's Titans Year One is the most fun I've had reading comics in a while ♥ Issue 5 with my often forgotten DC ship love Speedy/Wondergirl made me so happy ♥ Now even if Roy and Donna never talk again, I'm at peace because they were once drawn by the talented Karl Kershl ♥
Blue Beetle #25 marks the end of John Rogers' arc and the Reach storyline, and it's utterly FABULOUS. It's kind of like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, only 25 pages long and in full color! (and it has aliens!) HOT BLOOOOOD.
I've been reading a lot less manga lately, but I somehow came across the gem that is Deadman Wonderland anyway. From the same mangaka of Eureka 7, DW is cleanly (and awesomely) drawn and just visually captivating. The storyline is a bit morbid (and crude to an extent?) but it's unique and a good (albeit slightly haunting) read. Yoh's sister makes me lol =)) Fairy Tail is the shonen fun that Naruto and Bleach fail to be. I love Mishima's simple yet effective approach to shonen, and his cast is well-balanced and engaging. Go go Gray/Erza \o/
Pare, basahin mo na kiko machine. Asteeg. Magaleeeng. Medyo Sabaw, pero laging nakakatawa :D rakenrol.
Scott Summers is my hero \o/ this is the guy, who even when dead, led his team against a race of aliens. This is the only guy who can lead the X-MEN. Good god, ILU SCOOOTT. TONY. TONY. TONY. Y SO MANLY? Though Secret Invasion screwed him over, Tony Stark was an excellent leader and superhero who only wanted the best for Marvel U. He deserves more than the crap treatment he gets from the other heroes. D:
Emma Frost is up for some changes in the upcoming year. Good or bad, I don't know yet but that doesn't change the fact that Emma continues to be one of the most alluring characters in the Marvel Universe. She's complex and treads on both good and evil. And while this year seems to be just business as usual for Emma, she's still Scott's partner in leading the X-Men and one of my favorite comic characters of all time. Stephanie Brown became the first female Robin but died soon after. She and Timmy had a thing going on ;) That was all I new about her until she came waltzing back into the Robin monthlies alive and kicking. She's snarky, cool and cares for Timmy ♥ She also came back from the dead and brought a little life (and happiness) to the troubled emo Robin we have now, so that garners her heroine of the year!
I'm not particularly sure why I love Erza so much, but I do. She's strong, responsible and a little uptight, but she also had an emo past which involved eyepatches and demon-possessed love interests. Despite that, she continues to kick ass and fight for her nakama. GO GO ERZA! I'M ROOTING FOR YOU (AND GRAY)!
Lol. Scott/Emma is one of the main reasons I read comics, which is kinda lame... but i'm entitled ;) I love the push and pull of their relationship and their strength despite trust issues. I thoroughly enjoyed how Whedon made these two very different but similar people who loved each other. I also enjoyed (a bit guiltily) Brubaker's cheesy portrayal of them ♥ I'm not totally digging the Fraction treatment (but I'm waiting to see where it goes) and Ellis hasn't done much to them yet so I'm eagerly awaiting what's in store for my favorite comic couple ♥ OTP OTP ♥ I was actually partial to Tim/Cassie post both Kon and Bart's deaths but McKeever made them too emo for their own good (and Cassie a bitch, which is a shame considering Torres' excellent and fun mini) So when Steph came along, it was perfect. It was like Dick and Babs, but VERY different. They have their angst and trust issues, but Robin and Spoiler fit (and work) together effortlessly. This year's Robin and Spoiler Special has converted me. With Tim's recent EVEN MORE EMO transformation and the upcoming cancellation of the Robin monthly (

Spectacular Spider-man is my cartoon of the year. I remember when it was airing in April, I was totally obsessed. It's just good light-hearted fun with all the right characterizations I want. Boyish Peter. Geeky Girl-Next-Door Gwen. Awesome (and not spinless like in the movie) MJ. I can't wait for the second season! \o/ It also helps that they all look adorable, and that Liz Allen sounds (and kinda looks) like Paulina from Danny Phantom. =))
OBVIOUSLY, Macross Frontier is my anime of the year. It's been a LOOOONG time since I've been so obsessed in something. So maybe it's story isn't the best and most creative in the world, it's okay for me. I love the setting. I love the characters. I love the songs. I love the romance. I love the robots. I love the animation. I FLOVE Sheryl. I love that it was my first Macross experience. There were just too many things to love \o/ Despite the non-ending, it's probably one of my favorite animes EVER just because of the effect it has on me. MAAAAKKUUURROOOSSUUU! ♥
There're probably no male anime characters out there that I can love more than Takemoto Yuuta and Takeru Takaishi but there were still stand-outs this year. PATRICK COLASOUR is probably one of the most adorable and AWESOME characters I've ever encountered. This perennial loser of Gundam 00 is a winner in my heart ;D (lol corny) His attempts at fighting Gundam and winning Kati's heart require medals of AWESOME. THIS GUY IS MADE OF AWESOME. GOOD GOD. AWEESOOOME. Mikuriya Jin is Kannagi's resident too pure pure boy ♥ He's earnest and works hard, but is not particularly outstanding. Despite that, he's okay with it, and he's totally okay with taking care of a particularly fiesty shrine god too. ♥ He's just sweet and reliable, and episode 13 where Jin goes dere and becomes all manly made me grin like an idiot ♥
I think at this particular moment in time... Sheryl Nome is my favorite female anime character EVER (much like how Brooke Davis is my favorite female TV character EVER ;D) From episode 3 of the series, I knew I would be rooting for her. Episode 5 was already hinting at the obsession I would soon have :| By the time episode 10 came, I was eerily obsessed. I was outraged in episode 12 when Alto flew away with Ranka in Galia-4. It was to the point of no return by episode 18 :| And my 20++... Well, let's just say I woke up at 3 in the morning to catch the Macross finale before going to school (when i was sick too) B-). Sheryl is not particularly perfect. She's kind of obnoxious and kind of a bitch sometimes. But when it came down to it, Sheryl knew what to do and what she had to give up to do it. I admire Sheryl for her confidence, professionalism and of course her strength. I don't think I'll be this impressed again any time soon. (Though Ami Kawashima from Toradora is turning out to be Yukino Miyazawa 2.0 so I expect a lot of fangirling from me in the upcoming year)
Crazy Princess Azula is cartoon character of the year. The epic-fest that was Avatar ended this year and of course, I watched it \o/ with much enthusiasm. I love the cartoon but I don't obsess on it too much. From the great cast of characters though, Azula stands out for me, especially this season 3. Betrayed and still carrying a lot of mommy-issues, Azula flips her lid in a kind of amazing fiery fashion. From bitching about pitted cherries to her final showdown with her brother and his girlfriend Katara, Azula was just a character I felt for (for some reason). :) *write**write**write*
Oh and AruSheri is definitely my OTP (in anythiing) OF THE YEAR.
** tbh, earlier in the year, I was obsessed with Eva and Shinji/Asuka too, but my love for Macross totally eclipsed them =)) La lang special mention ♥

lulz of the year
Website of the year is a toss-up between 4chan and pixiv but pixiv wins out. Nothing fueled my internet-stalking tendencies more than checking out new fan-art in pixiv. This Japanese version of DevArt is epic, and there are loads of art gems to be found in this site B-) I've only scratched the surface >:)
SMeyer's TWILIGHT series has been the source of most of the laughs I've shared with anabee and everyone this year. Thank you Twilight for your sparkling vampires, your fabulous quotable quotes and RPattz's hilarious portrayal of Edward. You continue to give me joy, especially with Takipsilim coming soon, and I give you nothing but grief by continuously mocking you.
what's your most awesome shizz for 2008? 8-)
