I forgot that I hadn't posted since my bike accident last Saturday. I was pulling over to let some cars past and slid in some gravel. Busted myself up pretty badly- I thought I'd broken my arm. Turns out I didn't, but ya'll know how I tend to tough things out; this time I walked up to the horse farm I was near and borrowed a phone, and had N call me a cab right away and we went to the ER as soon as I dropped off the bike at the house (and picked up N in the cab). Fortunately it was just a huge swollen bruise on my lower arm, just below the elbow. It's still really impressive. I never knew anything on my body could swell up that fast and that hard (and quit snickering, what is this, seventh grade?!) And the other assorted bruises are kind of fun, too. :-D What was really fun was trying to get out of bed the next morning. I had stiffened up like- well, like something that gets stiff I guess. Fortunately we were staying at the Embassy Suites in Indianapolis (yes, I went ahead and drove to Indianapolis the afternoon of my bike wreck- N had a conference to attend and it's not like anything was broken) and they had their water heater set too hot, so a few hot compresses later and I was ready to hobble down to breakfast. I had a vicodin with my orange juice.

The cars slowed down just enough to make sure I wasn't dead. At least they didn't finish the job.

So, I spent five days off the bike and lost a significant amount of training time. I didn't go out this past Saturday because it was too disgustingly hot and humid, but did go on a 27 mile Bike Trek training ride in Shelby county with my bike ladies yesterday and did a 15.4 today, which was less than the 20 I had hoped to do but I was running out of time and had to go to work (boooo).

So yeah, I know this is the most boring blog in the world right now, but would you really rather be hearing about my vegetable garden? Or adventures in cooking too many greens from my CSA? Or the fun N and I have been having as we flea comb the cats? We got seevn off Minerva last night.... and yes, we already gave them a dose each of Advantage!
