Just coming in here to post an entry a bit my week. It was a pretty slow 1.
Sunday I attended 2 of my former churches adventurein the morning, and Harper in the evening S and I went to Harper to check out a service for younger adults. The music was contemporary and was just average. Then the pastor preached a short sermon about why we should be passionate for God. I enjoyed and would go again though probably not every Sunday.
Monday the only thing of interest was doing a route from Flora downtown. Flora relieved out of harness on the sidewalk on our way to the grass, but at least it wasn't in harness. Her work was very very good.
Tuesday was bible study. I don't remember anything about it. I do remember that it was interesting and I stayed awake despite not having much sleep the night before. I've had some trouble sleeping this week.
Wednesday was riding lesson day or as Flora says Miracle Ranch day. She did not behave at the ranch lots of pulling and sniffing and just not listening. My riding lesson was fine. I just walked and only rode for about a half hour before I got tired Jazz was a good horse as always. They may put me on another horse next week since L doesn't think I should trot on trot on Jazz. Apparently she has some trouble balancing during the transition and throws her front end up. L is concerned it would throw me off balance. We may try it with side walkers or L just might switch horses. She has another 1 in mind and was going to ride her with me in mind this week. And of course I haven't talked with her since the lesson.
Thursday I spoke with the school. I had several issues to discuss. Flora had pooped in the house Tuesday night 3rd time in 3 weeks. She always does it shortly after our final night relieve. Heide says to tie her down right after we come in. TThe theory being she won't poop where she sleeps and will hopefully wake me up if she needs to go. I updated her on the relieving in harness issues. I asked for advice on her obsessive chewing/licking of her paw. She suggested wiping it off when we come in from outside with a warm washcloth. I've done it twice I keep forgetting to do it. Flora really doesn't like having that paw touched. She's fine with the other paws. The first time I tried she pulled away so I just wiped the top of the paw. This time I wiped the top and then held the cloth in my other hand while I gently touched the bottom. She tolerates it with a lot of encouragement. She had gotten a little tiny cut on that foot, but it healed fine and the vet found nothing wrong so I'm not sure what the deal is. We then talked more about my follow up like where was the closest hotel for a trainer to stay at. Its always good to talk to Heide. I do appreciate all the support you guys give me, but there's something about talking to someone who knows you well, and has actually seen you work your dog that is helpful.Yesterday was another good route with Flora just down the sidewalkless road near home. Flora did a great job stopping for a car turning in front of me. It was slow and I heard and certainly woud've stopped if she hadn't, but good dog. On the way home walking through the parking lot to get to my apartment a car was pulling out. It was to the left in front of me. It was not going to hit me, but Flora stopped anyway. I think she thought it was going to turn in front of me like the other one. Even though there was no real danger I still appreciated her attentiveness.
Well, it is time for me to listen to the worship service from Gateway. And then Oakhills both in Texas. Listening to these is becoming a weekly tradition. Well, I've been listening to Oakhills for over a year but just discovered that Gateway streamed about a month or so ago. I don't usually listen to Gateways sermon, but love the worship.
