Mom has been cleaning up Noni's house and she found some old tapes of us kids when we were small. Me singing at age 8 is so darn cute! We also have tapes at my parents house and some vcr tapes. We've talked for a while now about putting them on CD/DVD. Yesterday mom recorded them on to her Olympus. She sent them to me to see if I could clean them up a little like taking out blank parts which I can do and noise reduction which I don't remember how to do. If anyone knows please let me know. I'd love to have this done professionally and maybe someday we will.
So, I've been thinking today how amazing the changes in technology have been throughout my life.
When I was very small we still had an 8 track player in our van. Now everyone runs around with digital recorders. And computers my gosh!
I remember my first time to touch a computer. I was in third grade and it was close to the end of the year. The school had just gotten it talked probably with echo and had a Braille printer. I didn't learn to use computers until fourth grade. Does anyone else remember the Apple 2C? I spent hours playing apples and the great escape.
I remember what a big deal it was when I learned to program very simple stuff in Basic LOL Just like with when I was learning basic I got to a point in html where I got frustrated and stopped learning. I'm thinking about bringing my website back though but maybe changing it up or something i don't know.
I remember how poorly scanners used to scan. The first time I went on line was 1998. I remember it was the fourth of July and I spent hours looking up information about different schools for the blind.
I spend time every day on here now and its connected me to so many people and neat things like podcasts and just so much. I can't imagine how I'd spend my time if we didn't have computers and the net. So that's what I'm thankful for today the progress of technology.
