Well, I had a dog switch today. For about 3 minutes. Today was the first of what I hope will be several poochy pow wows. I didn't name it. The members of the PCB who have guide dogs and several sighted helpers went to a local dog park to give the dogs some romp time. We had the major breeds represented, a shepherd, a golden, a golden cocker mix, 3 yellow and 3 black labs plus a wide variety of other dogs not from our group such as a syberian husky beautiuful dog, a wheaton which I insulted by calling it a poodle, a few little yappy things, and a huge I mean it came up to my waist sheep dog lookin thing. All dogs played well. We will be doing this on a monthly basis and maybe more often in the summer. We stayed for about an hour. At about 5 mins till 2 everyone started reharnessing the dogs. I didn't. I wanted to let Ellie run till the last possible second. Several people headed to the other end of the park because the bus they were taking picked up there. Mine was coming right to the park. So, I finally thought I'd better harness Ellie. So, I called, and called, no Ellie! Someone handed me a dog and said "here she is." but it was not Ellie! I had a moment of fear thinking maybe she'd gotten out of the one gate in the 3 acre field although I didn't see how. There were sighted people everywhere and one of them was watching the gate everytime someone new came in with a dog. Since M's dog was here someone called M on her cell phone "hey have you realized you have the wrong dog?" she reaches down and realizes oh my god! this isn't Penny its Ellie." LOL someone went and got here back. Apparently she guided M very nicely! LOL. Someone held Ellie at the gate and I came out to her. She really wanted to come in to me. She must've wondered what the heck was going on!! I'm still laughing about it! Ellie is completely asleep. She's woken up a couple times and come to get pets and then she's back out. I may go take a little nap myself.
ellie,
