American Idol:
I love David Cook. I think he's awesome. However, he wasn't the best tonight, I realize that. I'm going to vote for him, but I think David Archuleta won. But that's ok.
First of all, Clive Davis chose the hardest song for David Cook. It's a good song, but no range and very difficult. I thought he did a great job, he didn't sound like Bono but he did his own version. "I still haven't found what I'm looking for" was what he sang. Then Clive chose "Don't let the sun go down on me" for David A. Come on, that is one of the top songs EVER. Not a very fair match up I think.
Then the second songs were the songwriter's competition. Cook chose a more upbeat song and I think he did pretty good with what he had. Who knows what the other options were. Archuleta sang a ballad, and of course it was good. It was predictable though (to quote Simon.)
The third song was a brave thing that Cook did, but I think it probably wasn't the best idea. Traditionally on Idol they chose their favorite performance through the year, and he picked a new song. He did 'The world I know' by Collective Soul. He cried at the end! I loved it, but it was too much verse and not enough of the chorus. He did great, but it's the chorus that really brings it home and it needed more. Archuleta chose 'Imagine' and that was just an awesome song. I even bought it on iTunes.
Simon said David A. won. I think he did too. But it's ok. Now, on AI runners up don't usually do that great. Season 1) Justin - who's that? Oh yeah, he was in the movie with Kelly. Season 2) Clay Aiken - doing ok with 40 year old women and gay men. (lol) He's on Broadway now though. Season 3) Diana - who? She had an album, but no one bought it. Season 4) Bo Bice - He did ok, but nothing fantastic. I think he's still working on it though. He had lots of health problems too. Season 5) Katherine McPhee - another so-so. Had one song, is more famous for marrying someone rich. Season 6) Blake - His album is really good, and I hope he does well. And then out of the rest of the people on AI - Christ Daughtry of course did really well. Kimberley Locke had one song, and was on Celebrity Fit Club. Constantine was on a soap opera (snicker.) Others are doing well on Broadway or other things, but no one has hit it really big besides Kelly, Carrie and Daughtry. Jordin Sparks is doing ok right now too, so she might be another one. ANYWAY - I'm saying that I hope David Cook can become another Daughtry because I think he's awesome! But David A is going to take the spotlight for awhile. I hope David doesn't have Clive produce his album, won't be any good.
