“I’ll just… hit the sack. I’m dead beat,” Jin said as he lifted his heavy head off Kame’s shoulder and stood up.

“A-Ah. Yeah, I should get some sleep too.”

“Yknow where the guest room is. Night,” Jin said, closing his room door.

“N-Night…” Kazuya uttered, a little too late for Jin to hear though.

Kazuya wanted to tell Jin to stay. He liked the position they were in; Jin’s head which rested on his shoulder and their slow breathing somehow synchronizing together. He liked feeling Jin’s warmth against his. The way his hair smelt so lemony. It felt so… comfortable.

“I would’ve loved to be… sleeping with you beside me like that…” Jin whispered to himself, his back to his door.

“But yet… AH! This is all so confusing… Maybe… maybe…”

Maybe Jin was really falling out of love.

_____

It was a good thing that the competition was held in the evening, the two of them could sleep through the afternoon then. Jin’s fever hadn’t fully subsided much since the first day but they still needed to perform that night. After all, they were professionals weren’t they?

Jin and Kazuya conquered the stage so naturally; Kazuya with the gentle smile, singing his heart out with each performance until the veins on the sides of his neck were visible and Jin with his mischievous smirk and arrogant swagger, hitting those high notes to perfection when needed.

“Kamenashi-kun?” a girl’s voice called out.

And then, it happened again. That sudden wave of anger had swept over Jin once again. He glared at Kazuya and the small group of fan girls that appeared at the door of the dressing room that they shared with a few other contestants through the mirror, pretending to be asleep. He knew that Kazuya was just being nice but he couldn’t help but feel so enraged.

Jin clenched his fists and gritted his teeth. He even counted to ten but it was of no use. His fever clearly wasn’t making his situation any better. The girls shook hands with Kazuya one last time, flashing him their shy but flirty smiles.

Get your freaking well-polished fingernails off him, his mind hissed.

Finally, they left.

_____

Kazuya came back and fixed his hair. He noticed Jin sleeping (but we know he actually isn’t) on the chair beside his and a smile curved on the sides of his lips. The sight of Jin’s sleeping expression caused a slight chuckle to come out of those lips.

How come I never noticed how attractive Jin really looked before? Kazuya asked himself.

“Ne Jin,” Kazuya started, gently massaging Jin’s shoulders.

“Tsk. What is it?” Jin retorted, clicking his tongue as he managed to shrug Kazuya’s hands off his shoulders.

The both of them stared at each other, not saying a word when Jin heard the announcer call their names through the PA system.

“C’mon. Its our turn,” Jin said, sliding into his sleek leather jacket as he headed for the door.

The sudden change in Jin’s attitude surprised Kazuya (the week was definitely full of surprises) but he wasn’t given much time to think it through seeing that their performance was next.

_____

But what was that really? Anger, hate or… just sheer jealousy? Clearly, we all know the answer and everyone knows that one can’t get jealous when they didn’t love someone. And did Kazuya really fear loosing life best friend, or was it something… more than that?

Why can’t they see, how much they love each other?

_____♥

Of course, the both of them were pros. They never brought any unnecessary emotions to the stage. What happens backstage, remains backstage.

_____

And yet again, they won this year. Though they were born for the stage and had received numerous offers from promising recording companies, it never really crossed their minds to make a career out of it. Moreover, they didn’t want any unnecessary drama in the tabloids.

Performing was just something they enjoyed doing once in awhile; together. Maybe one day they would want to make it big.

One day, but not now.

_____

“HAHAHA! Did you see the look on those newcomers?! They seriously thought they could outdo us?” Jin bellowed. He was slightly tipsy but so was Kazuya.

“Iknow! Their faces were like ‘EHHH MAJI DE?!’ It was just so hilarious!”

Silence.

“Ano sa, maybe they can outdo us…” Kazuya mumbled, breaking the silence.

“*grunts* IN TEN YEARS! HAHAHA!” they both said in unison, laughing out of control. It was a good thing they were celebrating back at Kazuya’s crib.

“Ahhh~ what a day Kazuya. What a day,” Jin said as he crushed another can of Sapporo beer.

“Got that right Jin. I never get tired of the feeling of victory. It feels as though we’ve just won it for the first time ne Jin?”

Silence.

“Jin?”

However, Jin was in his own trail of thoughts. He was staring at that old framed picture of Kazuya and him that Kazuya kept. Everything around him seemed to drown out. All Jin could remember was the night they won, his first confession to Kazuya and…

and how much it had hurt when Kazuya rejected him.

“Jin?” Kazuya called, snapping Jin back to reality. That similar frustration overwhelmed him once again.

_____♥

“OUCH! FUCKING HELL JIN WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” Kazuya yelped in pain. It was a mixture of anger, pain and confusion.

Jin now had Kazuya pinned to the wall with both his hands. Kazuya was struggling hard but to no avail. Jin was much stronger than he was. He always had been. The both of them were breathing hard now, their bodies barely centimeters apart. The current situation frightened Kazuya. He felt his own heart ramming against his own chest. The way Jin glared at him, it just paralyzed his senses.

And then, Jin kissed him.

_____

Jin kissed Kazuya sloppily on the lips long and hard. It wasn’t passionate, it was rough and forceful. It was… too much. Kazuya was reluctant to let Jin enter his mouth. He didn’t want to kiss Jin, not this way. Kazuya tried to move his hands but Jin’s grip was to strong, just like how forceful Jin’s lips were locking with his. Kazuya then felt his own hot streak of tears emerging from his light brown eyes.

“Ji-“

“Sto-“

“Ple-”

He kicked Jin hard in the stomach at that moment.

_____

The kick was powerful for a man of Kazuya’s size, sending Jin straight for the floor. Jin doubled over as Kazuya tried collapsed on the floor, trying to catch his breath. More and more tears trickled down Kazuya cheeks. They were flushed with a shade of pink either by fury or just sheer bashfulness (which was, somehow hard to believe). Kazuya’s hands were shaking and his lips were slightly swollen.

“Wh-what the hell *inhale, exhale* do you think *gulp* you’re doing Jin?” he questioned in between tears. He could hardly see his best friend’s face through his already messed up hair.

Was he hearing things? Was Jin -

But before Kazuya could think, Jin pulled him into another (though less forceful) rough kiss.

“I love you Kazuya *sniff* so… much…” Jin uttered, their lips finally parting. Kazuya’s eyes weren’t playing tricks on him. He wasn’t delusional.

Jin was… crying.

_____

“I love you so much *sniff* that I think I’m really going nuts Kazuya… I love you so much… yet *sniff* the love I have for you is somehow vanishing for no reason… I don’t want that to happen Kazuya! I…”

“*sniff* I don’t want to stop loving you… I’m so scared that… *sniff* that I’ll stop loving you…”

Jin let go of Kazuya’s wrists, his tears never-ending. It was the first time that Kazuya had seen Jin’s tears. Jin’s love for Kazuya was driving him up the wall. He was clearly at his limit. Slowly but hesitantly, Kazuya wrapped his arms around Jin, pulling him into a warm hug. Kazuya did love this man. Kazuya loved him, as much as Jin adored him.

And he too, didn’t want Jin to stop loving him.

After what seemed like ages, Jin pulled away from Kazuya’s embrace. He looked Kazuya in the eye and gradually moved his lips closer to Kazuya’s. They were both uncertain but nevertheless, their lips met. This time, the kiss was different.

It was gentle and it radiated so much love from both sides.

Maybe, three years was long enough. Maybe, it was time to take a step forward.

“J-Jin?”

“Hmm?”

“I- I love you,” Kazuya told him, staring deep into his loving dark brown eyes as he did so.

- End

A/N: OMG this was by far the hardest thing I had to write and it took forever! I’m pretty happy with the outcome of it though. I hope you’ll enjoy this! I’m off to school tomorrow, so I won’t be able to write as much anymore. Thanks for reading!
