Sleeping Beauty

He sleeps little compared to her, a few hours every few days and that usually during the day when she’s in class - even vampires with daylight rings tend to prefer to be active during the night (and oh how they spend their nights, until - as vampires should - they rest as the sun rises). Usually by the time she gets home he’s waking or fully dressed and ready to see to the night’s business.

Sometimes she returns home to find him still asleep and splayed across their bed, usually in limited clothing and she stops to admire the view. He relaxes when he’s alone in bed and even his ancient features seem less care-worn though still knowing and refined. She wonders, if he knew what it does to her, if he would do it more often; but part of the preciousness of those moments is how infrequent they are. She savors those moments as she watches him sleep from a distance; it never lasts as he becomes aware of her presence so easily and it stirs him awake.

And sometimes he sleeps beside her; sometimes her eyes open to find his sleeping form still lying next to her, and he is never splayed to take up room but always turned toward her. He seldom sleeps close to her, but in sleep his hand reaches out and twines with hers (when she does sleep alone sometimes her hand reaches out for his as she will wake gripping his pillow). In those moments, she’s not at a distance, she’s right there next to him and she has to touch her beautiful sleeping lover.

It took her time to work up the nerve to do it, afraid that she would wake him (part of her hoping to) but now she isn’t. She can touch him lightly enough not to wake him, the tips of her fingers sliding over his arms and neck feeling the slightest of unconscious responses to her touch. Down the planes of his chest and stomach, sliding around to rest on his (amazing) ass. Then up his bare back, feeling the ridges of his spine usually hidden beneath tailored garments. Every fine hair on his body seeming eager to be petted by her roaming fingers; sneaking occasional glances watching him grow hard even as he slept through her explorations.

She doesn’t kiss him, her sleeping beauty, until she’s prepared to break the spell of sleep. Until he’s hard and she’s wet and they’re both ready. When she does, his eye flutter open to meet hers, and she smiles gently even as her hands grip his forcefully. It never takes him long to wake up after that.

Sometimes when Elijah comes to bed and finds Elena already asleep he thinks about waking her (turnabout would be fair play), but he seldom does. Instead, he eases in beside her and sleeps an easy, dreamless sleep; and he hopes she wakes up before him.

It turned out to be really really easy to imagine Elena doing something like this. But glad you liked it.
