1. i saw the girl who plays fleur delacour in rue cler, the market street by my school, last week. i recognized her but didn't know where from, & i just realized it last night.
2. my parents bought a condo 3 years ago that was supposed to be ready in the august that just passed. it has been inevitably delayed, so they bought another one at yonge & shepphard, the same neighbourhood they lived when they first moved to canada. they move in january. i will never see the house i grew up in again.
3. last week my light bulb blew. i bought a pack of new ones from monoprix, but they were the wrong ones. i ran to the convenience store across the street and got the right kind; it still didn't work. i asked the spaniard on the sixth floor to help me; he tried. i called my dad and cried. i called my landlady; she said the wiring was old & that must be the problem, but an electrician couldn't come for three days. i bought candles & did my art history reading on the floor by the lamp & candlelight. the electrician came days later & that afternoon my landlady called me while i was on the bus, yelling at me in french. it turns out that the woman from the drugstore sold me a dead light bulb, that was all. it cost her 70 euros & she had to walk up my staircase twice with her bad hip. "soyez plus prudente, harriet!" she called again that night; i avoided her call. she called again & i picked it up, nervous that she would yell more or insist that i pay, but she just wanted to apologize for yelling & let me know that she loves the way i've decorated the place.
4. i went to the movies by myself last night & met a boy who is in fashion school. he gave me 4 pence, british money, because i am english. he said it would be a souvenir to remember him by, as well as compensation for the prailines that i shared with him. i didn't tell him my name.
